Most fun vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2

The most fun and active classes to play in Dragon's Dogma 2

Dragon's Dogma 2's Vocations are all designed to handle any situation you encounter. When it comes to the "rule of cool" factor though, some are more fun than others to mess around with.

Best vocations to play in Dragon's Dogma 2

I've played every vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2 so far, and although I'm not yet finished with the game, there are a couple of vocations that really stand out to me as being extremely fun to play. The smoothness of action and reliability are two big factors I look at when determining the level of enjoyment.

How much of my own ability is required to make the vocation sing? As such, the following vocations are the ones most fun to play if you're in the same boat as me.

Thief

The Thief is, in my opinion, the most fun vocation to play in Dragon's Dogma 2. Gameplay for it is extremely slick and snappy, and it has several crazy, unique abilities you aren't going to get from any other vocation. The class has a place in all parts of the game due to its natural ability to steal items from enemies, and the damage it deals in the scenarios it excels in is pretty much unmatched.

My favorite ability for this class is Igniting Blades, as it means the Thief always has access to the Burn debilitation at any given time. Burn does a lot of DoT (Damage over Time) damage and is incredibly useful against certain matchups, such as slimes.

Mystic Spearhand

Spellswords are usually my favorite class archetype in fantasy-based games, and the Mystic Spearhand vocation fills that role for me quite well in Dragon's Dogma 2. One of the reasons this class is so fun to play is that it is the only class with instant access to strong ranged and melee combat, making it one of the most versatile classes in the game. The only reason I put it below Thief is because I'm even more of a sucker for rogue gameplay in fantasy games.

Fighter

I'm a huge fan of balanced approaches in Dragon's Dogma 2, and the Fighter is basically 'balanced' the class. It has access to an immensely satisfying counterattack that requires good player interactivity and reaction ability to perform consistently. It also has an answer to almost everything in the game, with ranged or distant enemies being the only weak point.

I've also found enemies like Ghosts to be troublesome with the Fighter, but that doesn't undermine my enjoyment of the vocation, as your party can often deal with those pesky pain points anyhow. I've found that this vocation works especially well with Pawns, for some reason.

Warfarer

The Warfarer is a unique vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2 because of its ability to "multi-class" other class weapons for its own. This can lead to some crazy unique combos that would otherwise be impossible for other classes to perform.

The reason the Warfarer is not higher on the list, however, is that it takes a penalty to stats, which ultimately makes you a jack of all trades. Any singular action the Warfarer can perform, another class can always do better. For me, this hurts my fun with the class, though, again, the multi-class aspect of it is extremely cool. It is a bit later in the game though, depending on how you go about your playthrough.
