If you like the perfect balance of offense and defense, a Thrusting Shield is the weapon for you in Elden Ring. The Carian Thrusting Shield is one of only two of this weapon type included in the DLC, and we have the exact location for you to find it and give it a try.
Carian Thrusting Shield Location in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
The Carian Thrusting Shield is not the most accessible weapon to get in the new DLC, but if you're looking to try out one of these new fancy shields, it's worth tracking down since it's the most build-enabling option you've got.
The general area where you can find it is in the Shadow Keep near the Storehouse Back Section Site of Grace. However, instead of going through the main entrance, the better way to track it down is to wander all the way around the map through the Bonny Village and the back Church District Entrance.
Once you get to the Storehouse Back Section Site of Grace, go around the corner to the right, into a room with a Fire Knight. Right behind the Fire Knight, there's a corpse underneath a table that holds the Carian Thrusting Shield.
Carian Thrusting Shield Scaling, Affinity, & Stats in Elden Ring of the Erdtree
The Carian Thrusting Shield will require some high attributes to use it. You'll need a Strength of 17 or higher, a Dexterity of 13, and an Intelligence of 15 or higher, and it scales with those three attributes. Despite balancing offense and defense, you'll find that the physical power of the weapon is decently high, and you could even use this in a strength build. However, the shield's weight is also on the higher side, so you'll want to avoid piling too much extra weight alongside it.
The Thrusting Shield can be upgraded using Smithing Stones and is capable of performing the skill Shield Strike. This skill is what allows the shield to be used as a melee weapon rather than just a defensive item. You can perform three follow-up attacks by pressing the button multiple times.
If this weapon sounds perfect for your current build, track it down and try it out for yourself. You can even offhand it with another weapon if you'd like.
