Fallout 4's current-gen update which was released in April 2024 added the Tesla Cannon, an amazing weapon that a lot of people want to get their hands on, including The Enclave. If you complete the "Echoes of the Past" quest, you will have heard that they have their eyes set on this weapon. Here's how to complete Fallout 4's "Best of Three" quest and obtain this amazing weapon.
If you want to start this quest, you need to make sure that you have the update that was released for the game downloaded. Once you have done that, the quest will automatically show up in your quest log when you get onto the game for the first time.
How to start and complete "Best of Three" quest in Fallout 4
To actually get started, you will need to head to your radio on the Pip-Boy and listen to the "Vault-Tec Distress Signal." This will then send you to an area near the Edge of the Glowing Sea. You can fast travel to that location and find the body of a Vault 95 Gunner who has a Holotape on him you will need to listen to. The tape will tell you about how the man and his friends at Vault 95 would bother another man named Caroni when they had nothing better to do.
After listening to it, you will be sent to a nearby church called Hopesmarch Pentecostal Church, where you will find another Vault 95 Gunner. Be careful when you get to the church, as there will be a lot of Feral Ghouls roaming around. After taking care of the Ghouls, you can loot the gunner and download his Pip-Boy data. To do this, select the prompt to do so (found beside the Take and Transfer options).
Once you have taken care of that, you will be sent to Relay Tower 0DB-621, where you will find yet another Vault 95 Gunner whose Pip-Boy data you can download. You will then need to pull out your Pip-Boy and access the "Gunner Signal Remnant" station, which is the signal you will need to follow to your final destination.
Where to follow the Gunner Signal Remnant to
Once you start following the signal, you will head west and then southwest until you find Skylanes Flight 1665. This is where you will find the final body, which contains a Holotape saying Caroni killed his Vault Gunner Squadmates with the Tesla Cannon as revenge for the torment they put him through. As soon as you exit out of this, Caroni will attack you with the Tesla Cannon, starting a battle that you'll need to win.
How to get the Tesla Cannon
You will need to kill Caroni to get the Tesla Cannon from him. To do this, you will want to attack him with all your might. Try not to move around too much during the fight since there are a few Deathclaws in the area that could cause issues if you antagonize them and they join the fight.
After killing him, you will find that the Tesla Cannon isn't in his inventory; instead, you will need to pick it up off the ground. Once you have the Tesla Cannon, you can put this horrible story to rest and keep it safe from The Enclave.
