How to Wait in Fallout 4

Guess I'll wait here.

I love a good Bethesda RPG, whether it's the Elder Scrolls or Fallout series. The various choices and lore-filled open worlds have always captured my attention, especially in Fallout 4. There is so much to do and numerous ways to play the game, but sometimes I'll sit around and wait for an in-game event. Fortunately, there is a way to speed time up by waiting.

How do you Wait in Fallout 4?

Previously, you could simply press a button and wait anywhere in the world of Fallout, but in Fallout 4, you have to meet the special requirement of sitting or sleeping. Once you sit in a chair or lie down on a bed, you will have the option to wait. Once you sit down, the prompt will pop up and you are free to wait for however long you want.

Determine how long you would like to wait, and then confirm your decision. Time will pass, and your character will be in the same position. One thing to note is that you cannot wait if there are enemies nearby or if you are in combat. This will prevent you from being able to rest until you have cleared the enemies.

Why you should Wait in Fallout 4

Waiting seems like a pointless feature, but it has some benefits. Certain events only happen at specific times, and by waiting, you can quickly reach the required time. It is also a good way to get shops to open, as most will close at night. Ultimately, this feature mitigates the hassle of waiting for time to pass.
