One such title sure to both scare and delight both new and old players is Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse. Originally released in 2008 for the Nintendo Wii, Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is a survival horror title with a twist unique to the series. As players take control of four different characters, they must navigate the mysterious and haunted island of Rougetsu Island. Working to discover the history of the amnesic main character Ruka Minazuki, the player must rely on their Camera Obscura to fend off the violent ghosts that inhabit the island.

The 2008 original was generally well-received by critics and players alike. It went on to become one of the best-sellers of the series. With 2023 being the year of remakes, Mask of the Lunar Eclipse should fit in well amongst the likes of Dead Space and Resident Evil 4.
