Gifting is the beating heart of every relationship in Fields of Mistria, and now that the game has reached its 1.0 release, those relationships can grow into marriage and children. Whether you are chasing a spouse or just want to be the most beloved neighbor in town, knowing exactly what each villager likes and loves saves you a mountain of wasted turnips. Every character's liked gifts, loved gifts, and birthday are below.
- Loved gifts: the biggest friendship boost (each villager has roughly 10)

How gifting works in Fields of Mistria
Every villager in Fields of Mistria keeps a private list of favorites, roughly 20 items they like and 10 they truly love. Loved gifts hand you the largest chunk of friendship, liked gifts give a healthy amount, and anything neutral nudges the meter up by a sliver. Be careful, though, because disliked and hated gifts actually set you back, so it pays to know the difference before you start handing things out.
A few rules keep the whole system in check. You can only give each villager one gift per day, so you cannot brute-force your way to their heart in an afternoon. Birthdays are the big exception worth planning around, since a present given on the day is worth a serious bonus. It is well worth checking the calendar and saving a loved item for the occasion. On the flip side, most villagers turn their noses up at junk like sap, acorns, and sod, along with oddball items clearly meant for animals or other systems, so stick to their real preferences.
You do not have to figure all of this out blind, either. Villagers drop hints in conversation, their profile page slowly fills in liked and loved items as you discover them, and Elsie's gossip can reveal a preference or two if you are stuck. In the 1.0 release, hearts climb all the way to 10, and steady, well-chosen gifts are by far the quickest way to get there, unlocking heart events and, eventually, a proposal.

Caldarus
Caldarus, the guardian dragon, is a special case. You cannot hand him a single gift until you have completed the Breaking the Fire Seal story quest deep in the mines, at which point he takes on a human form and settles into his temple in the Deep Woods. The upside is that he begins with a generous head start in friendship, scaled to how far along you are in the main story, so you are rarely starting from zero. Having spent an age as a statue, he is fascinated by food, so cooked dishes are your bread and butter here. In fact, he loves most cooked meals, on top of the specific favorites below.

Seridia
Seridia, the Dragon Priestess, is the guide's other secret bachelorette, and she takes real work to reach. You first cross paths with her in the mines after the Water Tablet quest, where she appears, drops a Heart Crystal, and vanishes again. To actually unlock her as a romance option, you need to reach the very bottom of the mines at level 100 and break the final seal, which itself asks for Juniper and Eiland at eight hearts apiece. Once she is freed, she moves into a home in the Western Ruins, and only then can you start winning her over the usual way.

Heart events are little story scenes that play out as you grow closer to a villager, and they are one of the nicest payoffs for all that daily gifting. You trigger them at set heart milestones, starting early in a friendship and continuing as the meter climbs. In the 1.0 release, the heart cap sits at 10 for everyone, so the full run of events is now in the game, right up to the 10-heart proposal scenes for romance candidates.
