Chocobo GP is the Final Fantasy-themed kart racer from Square Enix. On March 10, 2022, it was released for the Nintendo Switch at $49.99. While Chocobo GP is a paid game, some fans are wondering if there are microtransactions in Chocobo GP.
The answer is yes—there are microtransactions in Chocobo GP, and they are very aggressive. The premium in-game currency is called Mythril and can only be purchased through the Nintendo Eshop. You can earn small amounts via a weekly login bonus and a one-time Season One login bonus but cannot earn Mythril in-game.

How much does Mythril cost in Chocobo GP
- 1,000 Mythril - $9.99
- 3,100 Mythril - $27.99
- 5,700 Mytrhil - $45.99
- 11,400 Mythril - $81.99
Mythril is required to purchase the Prize Pass, Chocobo GP's season pass. The rewards in this are appalling, consisting of stickers, Gil (another currency), and the popular character Cloud at level 60. You cannot earn Mythril through the pass, so you will need to purchase more of this currency if you want the next season pass.
When does Mythril expire in Chocobo GP?
To make this worse, Mythril can expire at the end of the month, five months after acquiring it. This means you cannot simply hoard your Mythril for more purchases. This microtransactions system is predatory in nature.
In addition to Mythril, there are two other in-game currencies, though these cannot be purchased with real money. These are Tickets, which are earned in-game, and Gil, which is earned by completing challenges and through the Prize Pass. Unfortunately, the popular character Squall Leonhart is only obtainable with Gil, meaning you will need to grind if you want to race as this character.
