In Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.35 a new relic grind was added for Crafters and Gathers. Following on from Mastercraft Tools, Skysteel Tools, and Resplendent Tools, Splendorous Tools are a several-stage grind for high item level tools. Here’s your full guide to crafting and creating your own Splendorous Tools.
What are Splendorous Tools in FFXIV?
Splenderous Tools are a series of relic tools added in patch 6.35. These tools aren’t always the best-in-slot (BiS) for each Crafter and Gatherer, but they are pretty high item level and have good stats. What’s more, they’re a great way to fill time between patches, and are a prestige item to show off, thanks to their shining appearance at the highest levels.
All Splendorous Tools quest steps (Patch 6.35)
Below we’ve detailed all the Splendorous Tool quest steps. We also included details on unlocking the Splendorous Tools quests in a separate guide.
Splendorous Tools

The basic and starting point for this relic tool grind, Splendorous Tools are iLvl 570 tools that can be obtained for free once you’ve started the Splendorous Tool quest line. After you’ve completed the quest An Original Improvement, you'll receive a Splendorous Coffer. Using this item transforms it into a tool corresponding to the user's current class.
Splendorous Tools for the remaining Crafting and Gathering classes can be obtained from Quinnana in the Crystarium (X: 10.4 Y: 7.8) for 1,500 White Crafters Scrips. There’s no extra steps here, and your next actual relic step is to augment this base tool.

Augmented Splendorous Tools

Augmented Splendorous Tools are the next step of the relic grind. These iLvl 590 tools are the start of the real grind, and the first real upgrade in the process. For Crafters, this means crafting the one star collectables listed by Quinnana at The Crystarium (X: 10.4, Y: 7.8). You’ll need to earn 90 Splendorous Components.
For Gatherers, it means gathering one star collectables from gathering points around the world. In the Gatherers grind, you’ll need the following:
- 50 Splendorous Components (Miner’s/Botanist’s)
- Either 180 Splendorous Water (Botanist) Shards or 180 Splendorous Earth Shards (Miner)
Fishers will need the following:
- 60 Splendorous Rod Components
- 60 Splendorous Reel Components
Once you’ve reached the required items, hand them, with your Splendorous Tool unequipped, to Chora-Zoi to receive an Augmented Splendorous Tool.
