How to get Ink Blue Dye in Final Fantasy XIV

A perfect nearly-black dye

In Final Fantasy XIV there are quite literally hundreds of dyes for you to customize your character with. One of the most popular, due to its almost jet-black appearance, is the Ink Blue Dye. Here’s how to get it.

The Ink Blue Dye is a common dye that’s available from a number of vendors all over Eorzea and beyond. At 216 Gil, it’s also pretty affordable. It retails for a reasonable amount on the Marketboard, for players who don’t want to seek it out. However, selling it back to NPCs is definitely not worth it. Resold to an NPC, it only sells for one Gil.

You can buy the Ink Blue Dye from the following NPC vendors:

  • Unsynrael - Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (X: 6.0, Y: 12.3)
  • Alaric - Old Gridania (X: 14.3, Y: 8.8)
  • Nanabe - Ul'dah - Steps of Thal (X: 14.2, Y: 11.0)
  • Eilonwy - The Firmament (X: 12.2, Y: 14.2)
  • Frine - The Pillars (X: 6.0, Y :9.9)
  • Tokohana - Kugane (X: 12.9, Y: 12.2)

Ink Blue Dye is incredibly useful and versatile because it delivers an almost pitch-black color better than Soot Black Dye. It’s also much cheaper than Jet Black Dye, which is a cash-shop item. It delivers a similarly dark and brooding look for a far more reasonable 216 Gil.

Overall, if you’re looking for a black dye, skip Soot Black and Jet Black. Get this Ink Blue, and enjoy the way your character looks!
