How does Early Access work for FFXIV Dawntrail?

As with previous expansions in Final Fantasy XIV, Dawntrail will also have its own Early Access period in which players who have pre-ordered any edition of the Dawntrail expansion can enjoy the new content as early as June 28 at 2 am (PDT), a full weekend before the official release on July 2.

Therefore, if you want to have the opportunity of Early Access to FFXIV's latest expansion, you will first need to pre-order one of the three different versions of Dawntrail, which include:

  • Standard Edition - USD 39.99
  • Digital Collector's Edition - USD 59.99
  • Collector's Edition (physical merchandise included) - USD 215.99

In addition to Early Access, pre-ordering any edition will also get you two in-game bonus items: a Wind-Up Zidane minion and a set of Azeyma's Earrings, which provide a 30% EXP boost for any job (including Dawntrail's two new ones) up to Level 90. If you do opt for the Digital or Full Collector's Edition, you will also receive three more in-game items on top of that, which include:

  • Ark mount
  • Wind-Up Garnet minion
  • Chocobo Brush (for Pictomancer)

Regardless of which version you choose, be aware that in order to fully engage in the content provided in Dawntrail, you first need to complete the Main Scenario events of the Endwalker expansion.

While those who have pre-ordered FFXIV's Dawntrail for either PlayStation or Xbox console are already set to go for Early Access, if you're playing the game on PC there are a couple of extra steps you'll need to take to ensure your account is ready.

Per the announcement on The Lodestone, FFXIV players on PC who have pre-ordered Dawntrail on the Square Enix Store should keep an eye on their email inboxes, as soon after receiving an email confirmation for your purchase of the expansion itself, an additional email will follow with a special bonus code that must be registered via Mog Station.

If you haven't gotten an email yet, Square Enix will start sending emails on Monday, June 24 that contain the bonus code along with instructions for how to register it.

Once you've received your code, head to Mog Station and look for a button on the Service Account Dashboard page that says 'Enter Pre-Order Bonus Code'. If you don't see it yet, this button should show up on the dashboard around the launch of Early Access. Alternatively, the 'Enter Item Code' button which requires a 20-digit code should work as well.

The Lodestone has provided explicit instructions for how to register these codes on every platform (including Steam).

Also, don't forget to redeem your Mountain Dew codes for the exclusive Mountain Zu mount and several other types of FFXIV merch starting on the first day of Dawntrail Early Access!
