ReShade is a third-party software for video games that players use to apply post-processing effects like color correction, antialiasing, ambient occlusion, custom crosshairs, and much more. If you've been using this software in Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) and now want to uninstall it for some reason, here's how.
How to remove ReShade on FFXIV
The steps to uninstall ReShade on FFXIV are identical to how you install the software in the first place. Begin by going to the ReShade website and downloading the latest version of the application by pressing on the link I've highlighted in the image above. Run the app from the download folder and if you get a warning message, click More info and then Run anyway to launch the software. This happens when Windows Defender detects a third-party application, but you don't have to worry as ReShade is safe.
After running the ReShade setup, click on the Browse button and select the FFXIV .exe file from the game's installation directory. Alternatively, you can select the game if it appears on the list (see image above) and press Next at the bottom.
On the following screen, select DirectX 10/11/12 (which should be the second option) and hit Next.
After this, select the third option that says Uninstall ReShade and effects and click Next. You'll then get an uninstallation confirmation message after which you can rest assured that ReShade and all its associated configurations for FFXIV have been removed from your computer.
