In Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.45, the second Variant and Criterion Dungeons were added to the game: Mount Rokkon, and Another Mount Rokkon. The Criterion Dungeon, Another Mount Rokkon, is a more challenging version of the Variant Dungeon that must be undertaken with a light party of four players. Similarly, Another Mount Rokkon (Savage) is one of the hardest dungeon challenges FFXIV has to offer. Here’s how to unlock both Another Mount Rokkon and Savage in FFXIV Patch 6.45
How to unlock Another Mount Rokkon in Final Fantasy XIV
Another Mount Rokkon is a complex and more advanced version of the Mount Rokkon dungeon. As such, you’ll need to have completed at least one run of Mount Rokkon. Then, once you’ve completed the quest as a whole, head by to Old Sharlayan and talk to Osmon, near the docks (X: 11.9, Y: 13.3) and unlock the Criterion Dungeon Mount Rokkon. The dungeon will become accessible from the V&C Dungeon Finder, which can be found in the Duty tab of your menu.
You’ll need to make sure you have an item level of at least 640, a big jump from the 605 required for the base Mount Rokkon. You might want to form a party for this one in advance, as it’s a more difficult challenge, although a queue is available.

How to unlock Another Mount Rokkon (Savage) in FFXIV
After you’ve braved the challenges of Another Mount Rokkon, you’re ready for Savage (or perhaps not). Just like with the base version, after you’ve completed the Criterion Dungeon, you can head back to Osmon in Old Sharlayan to unlock the new Savage version.
What’s the difference between all these Mount Rokkon dungeons?
The Variant and Criterion Dungeon system is relatively new—only being added in 2022—with only two different content pieces at the time of writing: Mount Rokkon, and The Sil'dihn Subterrane. Each of these has a Variant, a Criterion, and a Savage version of that Criterion.
Variant dungeons are branching-path dungeons where there are multiple potential bosses, paths, and opportunities for loot. There are even decisions you can make during the runs to change the future boss fights and how difficult they are.
Criterion Dungeons are harder versions of the Variant Dungeons, with one fixed path. They’re scaled to be a challenge for a light party of four players.
Savage versions are designed to be some of the most challenging dungeons in Final Fantasy XIV and are balanced accordingly.
