How to unlock the Mama Automaton minion in Final Fantasy XIV

Patch 6.3 for Final Fantasy XIV added dozens of new minions and mounts, including the cute and ghostly new Mama Automaton minion. This minion is part of the FFXIV and NieR Automata crossover, although the character is actually from NieR Reincarnation. Here’s how to get it.

How to get the Mama Automaton minion in FFXIV

The Mama Automaton minion is unlocked at the Manderville Gold Saucer for 30,000 MGP. To unlock it, head to the saucer and speak to the Gold Saucer Attendant <Prize Claim> (X: 5.2, Y: 6.6). Select the Prize Exchange III dialog option, and the Mama Automaton minion will be available for purchase. Activate the Mama Automaton item in your inventory, and the Mama Automaton is yours!

What is the Mama Automaton?

The Mama Automaton is part of an ongoing collaboration between Final Fantasy XIV and the NieR franchise. Mama is the companion of the Girl of Light in the game NieR Reincarnation, where it is hinted the ghostly figure has a deeper connection to the game’s protagonists, Levania and Fio. 

Mama has become something of the unofficial mascot of NieR Reincarnation. However, not much is known about the creature, whether it’s really a ghost or anything else for that matter. Still, it's a cute minion in FFXIV and one you can grab right now.
