In Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.3, a new minion, the Wind-up Cagnazzo, was added. This spiky turtle reminded some of Gamera, the famous turtle kaiju of movie fame. Here’s how to unlock Wind-up Cagnazzo minion.
How to get the Wind-up Cagnazzo minion in FFXIV
The Wind-up Cagnazzo minion is a rare drop from the Lapis Manalis dungeon of Final Fantasy XIV. Lapis Manalis is the dungeon that was added in Patch 6.3 and is a level 90 dungeon. Cagnazzo is the final boss of this dungeon, and his minion drops in the final chest of the instance.
Since the minion is a drop from a dungeon, you can attempt to farm this with a Trust of NPCs to ensure you have a free roll on the item if it drops. However, running a dungeon with NPCs can sometimes take longer than with Players in the Duty Finder. The Wind-up Cagnazzo minion is also tradable and marketable, so you can find it on the Market Board, although at the moment the prices range into the millions of gil level, so grinding might be a better option.
The Wind-up Cagnazzo minion also has a unique interaction. If you target Wind-up Cagnazzo and use the /poke emote, Wind-up Cagnazzo will retract into his shell, take to the air, and spin around. This is almost certainly a homage to Gamera, the turtle kaiju who uses a similar motion to fly in some of his films!
