Best Emblem Pairings in Fire Emblem Engage

Easy to follow recipes to cook up carry units.

Several of the characters in Fire Emblem Engage can be taken to the next level with the right Emblem Ring on them. Deciding which Emblem to place on each character comes down less to the Engage Weapon and Attack they get, but mostly to the Engage Skills they can receive. There are many powerful combinations players can make, including making grounded units fly, physical units hit for magic, etc.

What are the best Emblem Pairings in Fire Emblem Engage?

Panette and Ike

Panette can easily become the best crit machine in Fire Emblem Engage. Her personal skill, Blood Fury, gives her +10 crit if she is less than full health. Panette can combine this with Ike's skill Wrath, which adds another 50 to crit if she is below half health. Give her a forged Killing Axe and she will easily reach 90 crit. Ike's Laguz Friend also gives her some extra bulk to stay alive at this low health percentage.

Alear and Byleth

For each class type in the game, Byleth gives a different stat increase with his Instruct ability. If players keep Alear in the Divine Dragon class, though, Byleth's Instruct will add +4 to every stat. Alear already gives +3 damage through Divine Inspiration, so he will become a massive support unit with the Byleth ring.

Yunaka and Corrin

Many players know how hard it is to hit Yunaka when she is on an Avoid tile or Thicket. This makes Yunaka suffer on maps without these tiles, though (e.g. Firene Castle). Here is where Corrin's ring comes in: with Corrin, Yunaka can bring up a shroud of smoke, which will give her the Avoid she needs to become unhittable.

Diamant and Sigurd

While Diamant has a strong performance just by reclassing into Paladin, players can always just slap the Sigurd ring onto him. Keeping Diamant in the Successor class is nice for the Sol ability. Sigurd will give him the Mobility and Canter that he lacks in Successor. Brave Lance also helps against enemies Diamant can't double.

Chloe and Edelgard

The sole reason this pairing works is because of Raging Storm, which has been heavily nerfed from its use in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, but is still amazing. Raging Storm will give Chloe one additional action, so she can fly off to a faraway enemy or boss, use Raging Storm, and have another turn to flee to safety or kill a boss.

Alcryst and Lucina

Lucina's ring is notable for making any ally a Backup Unit, meaning they can use Chain Attacks. Alcryst can use a Longbow to provide extremely reliable chip damage with Lucina's ring. Since Longbow has a range of three, Alcryst can strike first with the Longbow, and the other allies can engage tanky bosses with chip damage from Alcryst every time.

Kagetsu and Lyn

While being incredibly fast and strong, Kagetsu is also pretty frail. This is where the Lyn ring can do him a lot of good, because it provides him with the Alacrity skill. If Kagetsu has the Alacrity skill and doubles the enemy, the double attack will happen before the enemy's retaliation. That means Kagetsu can kill enemies safely, and Lyn's ring will also keep him in the Speed threshold for Alacrity to work.

Louis and Hector

It's only natural that Hector would pair nicely with an Armored unit. Though the effective damage that comes with Wolf Beil is lovely, Louis really appreciates Quick Riposte most of all. Louis will never double any enemies, so Quick Riposte gives him a free attack on enemy phase that can destroy many enemies.

Zelkov and Marth

Thanks to his personal skill "Not Quite," Zelkov is arguably the best dodge tank in the game. The Marth ring only makes this more the case, since Marth raises Zelkov's natural avoid. Zelkov can also run into some problems killing enemies (especially armored units), which is why he appreciates Marth's Rapier.

Hortensia and Micaiah

Hortensia's personal skill, Big Personality, gives her +1 range on healing staves. This means, when paired with the Michaiah ring, she will have the longest healing range in the game. Hortensia and Micaiah is also a great pair for using Obstruct infront of choke holds and, of course, using Warp to end maps in a quick time.
