The best Class for Jean in Fire Emblem Engage

Big punches sometimes come in small packages.

At first glance, Jean may seem like a skippable character in Fire Emblem Engage. He is a small boy from a village in Firene who wants to be a doctor and hits like a piece of paper. The nice thing about Jean is that he gets inflated growth rates like Cyril, Donnel, Mozu, and others before him. With the right reclass, Jean can grow into one of the most powerful units in Alear's squad.

What should Jean reclass into in Fire Emblem Engage?

There are two optimal classes for Jean in Fire Emblem Engage. Since his base stats are so low, one of these options is Axe Fighter. The way that Jean's personal skill (Expertise) works are that class growth rates are doubled. Therefore, in the Axe Fighter class, Jean has a 70% Strength growth.

Seeing as Jean starts with a pitiful base 4 Strength, he won't be getting KO's unless players can improve his Strength stat as soon as possible. Jean cares less about his Speed, seeing as his Speed growth is 40%. Once in Axe Fighter, this will improve to 60%.

From Axe Fighter, Jean has two decent options to promote into. While Berserker will give him a huge 80% Strength growth, Warrior does give him a better skill in Merciless (unit deals 50% more damage to broken enemies). This decision comes down to whether players want the stats or the skill more.

The other option for Jean to reclass into is Cavalier. When promoted to Paladin, Jean will have a decent 50% Strength growth but also a huge 70% Speed growth. Paired with a Sigurd ring, Jean could use double attacks to eliminate enemies and Canter back to safety.
