For The King 2 Hardwork skill – What is it?

Does it pay off?

I’ve found that playing For The King 2 presents you with a bit of a learning cliff rather than a curve. Many skills aren’t explained well, if at all, including the Hardwork skill. To find out what it is and what it does, read on below.

The Hardwork skill is the basic starting skill for the Stablehand class. If you take one or more Stabelhands at setup, they will have this skill throughout your run-through.

What is the Hardwork skill in For The King II

The Hardwork skill gives the character an extra primary action in the round in which they use up their final Focus point during a battle. What this means is that you can use your focus to bolster an attack and then have a second attack straight afterward. I like this skill as while it isn’t as powerful as some others, it is guaranteed rather than random.

I think the best use of the skill I’ve found is as something of a Hail Mary in tough battles. Back-to-back may be just that extra blow you need to take down a particularly tough or annoying enemy before they attack.

If you’re going with the Stablehand and want to take advantage of this skill, I would also advise giving them a Golden Root (a common item that replenishes plus three focus) at the start of your playthrough while trading other characters’ items you find that give a Focus boost on your travels. It is also with blowing your Focus if you know you’re near a location or situation where it will be replenished anyway.
