How to Get River Styx Effects in Fortnite

The legendary King Midas returned in Fortnite and has some story quests for players to take on to earn XP and rewards. To solve this particular part of the Rise of Midas questline, players need to know how to get the River Styx Effect in Fortnite, and we're here to provide it.

Fortnite River Styx Location

To find the Styx River, you have to go to the northwest part of the map, near The Underworld area. The entire area is surrounded by a river with an eerie green color.

Any water around The Underworld area with that shade of green can give you the River Styx effect.

How to Get River Styx Effects

To activate the River Styx Effect, you have to go to the northwest part of the map and swim in the Styx River. Once you get out on the shore, you'll notice the skulls floating around you. That's the indicator the effect is turned on. Shoot an opposing player while wearing the Styx Effect and you'll finish King Midas' quest.

How to Damage Opponents While Under River Styx Effects in Fortnite

Now that you have found Styx River, it's time to activate its effect. To get the River Styx Effect, simply swim in the green-watered river. When you get back on dry land, you'll notice your character is surrounded by three green, floating skulls. This indicates the effect is on. All you have to do now to complete the quest is damage another player while having that effect on you. Other players are easy to find around the river, especially during timed events. Keep in mind, try not to use the speedy dash ability while coated in River Styx Effect, otherwise, you'll lose it, and you'll have to dip yourself in the river again.
