Fortnite is hosting a pre-season event called Operation: Skyfire. This special event is being run by the in-game character Doctor Slone as a means to stop the Alien Invasion once and for all. As with other Fortnite live events, this is an immersive, playable experience to transition us between Season 7 and Season 8. Naturally, many of us are wondering how to join the event as soon as it happens so we don't miss any important details!
Note: The following information is subject to change, as the Skyfire event has not yet been released.
In previous live events, players joined a lobby within an hour before the event started and hung out with other players waiting for the start. This Live Event will almost certainly follow the same pattern. However, there is a chance that it might be part of the Battle Royale gamemodes (in which you'd simply select a Battle Royale mode to play it) or a gamemode you must select from the selection screen.
Luckily, there is a simple process for this. Players will be able to join the live event from the Title Menu where you select which gamemode you'd like to play. If it follows the trend of previous seasons, the default gamemode selected when players join the game will be the Skyfire Event. However, if you haven't refreshed the title screen, you will probably need to manually select the gamemode.
To do this, when you enter the main menu of the game, you must select the Change button on the right, as shown in the image above. In the gamemode selection menu will be multiple tabs. Navigate to the Featured tab and select the Operation: Skyfire gamemode. Once you do this, return to the Main Menu and select Play to start the Live Event!
See you during the event!
