How to open the vault at Snooty Steppes in Fortnite

Defeat the boss for some great loot.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 has added locked vaults that are scattered across the map and one of them is located at the Snooty Steppes. If you are wondering what's inside and how to get into the vault then here's what you need to do in Fortnite.

There are a total of five vaults scattered across the different POIs this season and one of them is located at the Snooty Steppes POI. The vault can be found inside the massive building which is located on the far western side of this POI. Check the map image above to see the precise location.

Each of these vaults is locked and to access it, you will need to scan the Society Medallion. These Medallions are dropped by the bosses found at the different locations. To enter the vault at the Snooty Steppes, you need to defeat Peter Griffin to get his Medallion which will lead you towards the vault through arrows on the screen.

Once you enter the building, head towards the staircase, and you will find Griffin shooting at you. Before approaching this boss fight, I recommend carrying consumables and good weapons. Keep in mind that Snooty Steppes is a new POI, making it heavily contested by several opponents. It is wise to first eliminate all the players at this POI before approaching Griffin. You can also carry the Ballistic Shield to defend yourself and the Grapple Blade to reposition when opponents attack.

The boss fight is not going to be easy as he comes with NPC guards protecting him. Before devoting all your resources towards Griffin, eliminate his guards first. I threw Cluster Clingers at the guards from a distance while the boss was shooting at me. I recommend engaging the guards in a long-range combat and once you have eliminated them, feel free to rain fire on the boss.

Without the guards, it was much easier to take him down. At first, I used the Ballistic Shield to protect myself and knock him down but since it has a maximum of 350 HP, I swapped it with my Thunder Burst SMG. Griffin can restore his health and shields to the maximum so when you see him doing a silly dance, that's when you should reposition and reload weapons. After breaking his shield, you will get the perfect opportunity to eliminate him.

There's a funny animation that happens after you defeat Peter Griffin as he does the classic knee pain emote before vanishing. Once the boss is down, he will drop the Society Medallion and Hammer Pump Shotgun (Mythic). Scan the Medallion at the keypad beside the vault door and enter. However, remain cautious as the Medallion will put your location on the opponents' map. Inside the vault, there are a few regular chests, one epic chest, a weapon mod bench, gold bars, and other top-tier loot.
