Easily keep track of the Genshin Impact servers with these three sources.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Genshin Impact Version 1.1 has just arrived, which means new characters, new quests, and more weapons to unlock! While players are excited to play the new content, there is the possibility of potential server outages. If that unfortunate scenario arises and you’re experiencing issues logging on, check out these tips to learn more about how to check the Genshin Impact server status.

Since Genshin Impact is relatively new, there aren’t yet robust systems like Fortnite to easily check the server status if you’re suspicious of an outage. With that said, there are still resources to make use of when trying to understand why the game isn’t operating:

  1. The Genshin Impact Twitter page
  2. The official Genshin Impact news website
  3. Downdetector

Genshin Impact Server Status- Twitter

The official Genshin Impact Twitter page is regularly active with updates concerning new content. When there is a known outage--like scheduled server maintenance--the Twitter page is quick to post about it.

What’s great about Twitter is the ability to opt in to push notifications. First follow the Genshin Impact Twitter account, and then a Bell icon will appear. Click the Bell icon and opt in to All Tweets, which will send notifications directly to your phone every time this account tweets. That way, you will never miss a Genshin Impact server status announcement.

Genshin Impact Server Status - Official News

Another great alternative is to regularly check in with the official Genshin Impact website. The News section of the site reports frequently about content updates, patch notes, and server status. This website performs a great job of reporting scheduled server maintenance notices in advance. If you check this website frequently, it shouldn’t come as a surprise when the Genshin Impact servers are down.

Genshin Impact Server Status - Downdetector

Sometimes Genshin Impact server outages occur completely outside of developer miHoYo’s control. In the case that this happens and the sources above haven’t provided updates, the Genshin Impact Downdetector is a great third-party source. This website will let you know if the game is overall running smoothly, or if possible problems were detected.

The Genshin Impact Downdetector page gathers online outage data from real-time user reports. During situations where miHoYo has not had proper time to provide server status updates, you can eliminate the possibility of personal home ISP issues by checking Downdetector first. If multiple players have reported server outages in Genshin Impact, chances are that it is a wide-spread issue, one that is not tied to your home.

Having the tools to check the Genshin Impact server status is important during situations when the game fails to work properly. This knowledge allows you, the player, to spend less time attempting to log in to a downed server and more time reading up on the Wind Catcher. Why not also use that time to write down some free codes for in-game rewards?
