Our Purpose Is in Another Canal is a Genshin Impact World Quest that can be accepted in Fontaine. You must save a stubborn diver named Balent, who's been locked up in a cage by Hilichurls, then proceed with helping him do his job.

How to unlock Our Purpose Is in Another Canal World Quest in Genshin Impact

Head to the area circled in the image above, west of the New Fontaine Research Institute. A blue exclamation mark will appear when you get close to the area, so it's hard to miss. Speak to the NPC named Aigouy to accept the World Quest. Alternatively, you can head directly to the Hilichurl encampment to save Balent, which will also trigger the quest to start.

How to fix the underwater pipelines near the Fortress of Meropide (4/4) in Genshin Impact

After speaking to Aigouy and Balent, you'll eventually be asked to go diving to help do Balent's job. There are four broken pipelines underwater, which you must fix in any order.

Underwater Pipeline #1

Start by heading to the southmost pipeline, where the arrow is pointing in the image above. You'll find two handwheels, which need to be rotated to get rid of the leak. Follow the steps below:

1. Rotate the top handwheel once or until the blue line is facing downward.
2. Rotate the bottom handwheel twice or until the blue line is facing leftward.

If you followed the steps above, Paimon will inform you that the job is done.

Underwater Pipeline #2

Next, head to the eastern underwater pipeline, where the arrow is pointing in the image above. Once you get to the area, absorb the nearby Xenochromatic Jellyfish's ability.

Press and hold the Elemental Skill button, targeting the area between the two Meanies (the red flower-like bulbs), then release. A blue bomb will appear in the target area, as pictured above. Then, tap on the Elemental Skill button to detonate the bomb, destroying the Meanies and unlocking the mechanism.

After unlocking the mechanism, you'll be able to rotate the handwheels on the pipe. Follow the steps below:

1. Rotate the top handwheel once or until the blue line is facing downward.
2. Rotate the bottom handwheel thrice or until the blue line is facing upward.

If you followed the steps above, Paimon will inform you that the job is done.

Underwater Pipeline #3

Head to the western underwater pipe, where the arrow is pointing in the image above. The requirement here is simple: rotate the handwheel once or until the blue line is facing upward. Paimon will inform you that the job is done.

Underwater Pipeline #4

Next, head to the northernmost underwater pipe, where the arrow is pointing in the map above. When you see the pipe, swim downward to find one of the handwheels trapped inside Fontemer Seagrass. Cut the Seagrass, then pick up the handwheel by interacting with it.

Once you've obtained the handwheel, swim upward to get to the pipe, then interact with the sparkling spot to install the handwheel. Once it's been installed, rotate the handwheel twice or until the blue line is facing left. Paimon will let you know that the job is done. After fixing all four underwater pipes, return to the surface and speak to Balent to complete the World Quest.
