With the Version 5.0 update just over the horizon, Genshin Impact has begun teasing the exciting updates to keep players on their toes. With so many rewards and optimizations announced for the major game update, HoYoverse is keeping its promise to make significant player improvements.
Two of the most exciting things coming in the update include a free five-star character selector and a new Artifact system that allows players to choose main stats and substats!
A five-star character selector—completely free for everyone!
While Natlan has been on everyone's minds, Genshin Impact's Version 5.0 update is bringing more than just the long-awaited nation of war into the game. Players are also going to be treated to one of the game's most exciting anniversaries yet. In fact, the highlight of this year's anniversary celebration is a free five-star character selector!
Players who have unlocked the Wish system can choose from any of the standard banner characters to obtain for free during the anniversary. The reward is expected to be distributed every year, which makes Genshin Impact's anniversary period the perfect time for new players to start. Never has HoYoverse extended this level of generosity in Genshin Impact, making it a major milestone for both the developer and players.
Choose your Artifact main stats and substats
Artifact farming is one of the most tedious tasks in Genshin Impact, and it has received few improvements over the years. However, HoYoverse is finally taking quality-of-life improvements to a whole new level with an Artifact Affix system, which allows players to choose an Artifact's main stat and two substats. It will be easier than ever to get coveted double CRIT lines and a main stat that aligns with each character's unique needs.
Artifact Affixing will be available through a new Gadget called an Artifact Transmuter, which can be obtained for free from the Adventurer Handbook. It will require a resource called the Sanctifying Elixir, obtained by salvaging upgraded Artifacts, picking them up in Natlan, and through the Gnostic Hymn (battle pass). The anniversary mail rewards will include some Sanctifying Elixirs to help players get these valuable resources ASAP.
Other QoL optimizations & updates to look forward to
- World Level 9 for higher enemy and boss drops
- Quick start for Archon Quests—players can skip to Natlan after completing Liyue.
- By completing the Natlan Archon Quest during the event period, players will get an additional x500 Primogem reward.
- A new "Capturing Radiance" system, which increases the chances of pulling for the featured five-star
- The Fate Points required to get a guaranteed five-star weapon will be reduced from two to one.
- Regional specialty locations will be automatically trackable on the map.
- All enemy drops will be increased.
