Genshin Impact Vigilance at Sea guide – The Exquisite Night Chimes event

Genshin Impact's Version 3.4 Lantern Rite event, The Exquisite Night Chimes, runs from January 19, 2023, to February 6, 2023, bringing a new wave of attractions and memories beneath Liyue's festive skies. During the event, you can participate in a plethora of activities to get amazing rewards, including a new Waverider challenge called Vigilance at Sea.

How to unlock Vigilance at Sea in the Genshin Impact The Exquisite Night Chimes event

You must first complete the first Festival Anecdote called A Thousand Miles for an Enigmatic Tune, which will unlock all Lantern Rite activities. Then open the event menu, click Event Details, select Vigilance at Sea, and initiate the quest with the same name. This will take you to the eastern wharf, where you'll meet an Adventurer named TianTian who invented an exciting new series of obstacle courses for you to try.

Vigilance at Sea mechanics & how to play – Genshin Impact The Exquisite Night Chimes event

Access the Vigilance at Sea challenge by speaking to Huixing at The Crux: The Alcor, which is parked close to the Guyun Stone Forest. There are two types of challenges: Billowing Waves (Co-op) and Tranquil Waters (solo).

The mechanics are the same, scores are cumulative across both modes, and you can choose to play whichever you prefer. If you're not very good at steering the Waverider, we recommend playing Billowing Waves. Additionally, there are three challenge maps that you'll get at random.

Challenge Coins

Your goal is to collect as many Challenge Coins as possible while keeping your Waverider alive. In some maps, the Challenge Coins will be replaced with lanterns. You'll need to collect lanterns that match the fireworks to obtain Challenge Coins, while lanterns of other shapes will serve as obstacles that could damage your ship.

Waverider HP

The Waverider HP bar will transform into hearts during the challenge. If you run into an obstacle, one heart will disappear. Staying inside dangerous whirlpools will also force the hearts to deplete over time. The mechanics for the two game modes are a little different:

• Tranquil Waters - Six hearts, the challenge ends when all are depleted.
• Billowing Waves - Three hearts. When depleted, all your Challenge Coins disappear, and you won't be able to collect anything for a few seconds.

Techniques

You can gain Techniques by picking up Prop Lamps, which look like floating squares. You can only obtain certain Techniques in each challenge area, but activating them will help fortify your Waverider, attract Coins, and speed up your ship. Use the Elemental Skill to activate a Technique. After activation, you need to pick up another Prop Lamp to get a random Technique.

All attainable Techniques will appear on the screen after a challenge map has been randomly selected. Make sure to look at them and remember the corresponding icons to help you in the challenge.

Rewards

Rewards are calculated based on the total cumulative score across all the challenges you've played. For example, if you get 500 points in one challenge and 1,000 points in another, your total score will be 1,500. You can claim them in the Vigilance at Sea section of the Event Details.
