How to edit beatmap in Ballads of Breeze – Genshin Impact Windblume event

Build-a-beatmap with these amazing editors!

The Genshin Impact Windblume's Breath event runs from March 32023to March 27, 2023, celebrating one of Monstadt's most important festivals of the year. During the event period, you can participate in a rhythm game called Ballads of Breeze.

Apart from playing seven pre-made beatmaps for rewards, you can create your own through a custom beatmap editor. Here's everything you need to know about this amazing function.

How to make your own beatmap in Ballads of Breeze – Genshin Impact Windblume event

Start by heading to the event menu. Select Edit Beatmap to the left of the Perform button, which will open up the custom editor. You can edit any of the seven tracks in the current event, as well as the tracks from the Arataki Gang's Drumalong Festival from 2022.

Basic Editing

Upon opening the beatmap editor, you'll automatically be sent to the Basic Editing screen. Start by clicking on the play button at the top of the screen to play the track. To add notes, simply tap to make single notes or tap and hold to make hold notes as if you were playing an existing beatmap, except notes will be created as you play.

If the track is too fast to plan out your notes, you can adjust the Speed on the upper right of the screen. This will make the music play slower, making it easier to place notes on your beatmap. However, the finished product will play at 1x Speed.

If you make a mistake, click on the Undo button on the lefthand side of the screen. Unfortunately, there is no way to select a note to remove using the basic editor. If you want more control, use the advanced editor instead.

You can test out your beatmap at any point in your progress. First, adjust the slider at the top of the screen to start at a point that you've already edited. Then click on the Trial button on the left. The music will start playing at the point you indicated in the slider (i.e. if you slide to 00:28, the Trial music will also start at 00:28), so you can play specific parts of the beatmap to check if they work as intended.

Advanced Editing

If you wish to leverage more control in your beatmap creation, the advanced editor is the way to go. After opening the editing menu, click Advanced Editing on the left side of the screen to open it. This menu is a bit more complex but gives you the freedom to fully customize your beatmap.

To input notes into the score, start by choosing whether you want to Tap, Hold, or Delete via the bottom right of the screen. Select any of the options, then click on the exact part of the score you want to place the note in.

  • Tap - click on the screen once to place a single note
  • Hold - click on the screen twice to place a hold note (start and end)
  • Delete - click on an existing note on the screen to remove it

Keep in mind that notes can only be placed on time signatures, which are the vertical lines on the music score. If you want more time signatures, change the Meter on the upper right of the screen. A smaller Meter will allow you to place more notes, with a maximum note count of 1,200.

You can adjust the placement of notes by clicking and dragging them across the score. Consider playing the music at the top of the screen to help you gauge whether note placements are appropriate. When you're ready, don't forget to click Trial at the bottom right to test the beatmap yourself before sharing it with others.

How to save, import, & share your custom beatmap in Genshin Impact

Click on the Menu button on the top left of the editor to access these three functions.

  • Save - saves your work. You have 50 save slots, so you can make plenty of custom beatmaps!
  • Import - allows you to open an existing beatmap you've made and continue editing it
  • Share - generates a Sharing Code that you can give to others to play your beatmap

It's important to know that a Sharing Code will only be generated after you have cleared your own beatmap with a Discantus score (90 percent completion rate or higher). This ensures that your beatmap is playable enough for others.

If you managed to create a beatmap, consider sharing them in the official Ballads of Breeze Interaction Platform, or comment down below for others to try your work!
