How to get the Despite the Barrier Between Us… Achievement in Genshin Impact

Despite the Barrier Between Us... is a Genshin Impact Challenger: Series VII Achievement that you can get by defeating the Iniquitous Baptist without destroying its Elemental Shield. The premise sounds simple, but the boss' shield is relatively weak, so you might accidentally destroy it while attempting to get this Achievement. Below are some tips to help you out.

How to defeat the Iniquitous Baptist without destroying its Elemental Shield in Genshin Impact

Start by paying a visit to the Iniquitous Baptist's cave under the Gate of Zulqarnain. The boss will utilize Elemental Shield combinations based on its Elemental rotation for the day, which you can identify via the three floating orbs in the cave.

Upon starting the battle, the Iniquitous Baptist will constantly rotate between having a shield and not having one. Your goal is to only attack when its shield is not active. There's only a few seconds window where the boss' shield is down, so getting this Achievement requires some patience. It took me almost seven minutes using only Geo characters to avoid triggering strong Elemental Reactions when the shield suddenly comes up.

Additionally, we highly recommend not bringing an off-field DPS as they could accidentally break the Iniquitous Baptist's shield. This includes not triggering Bloom Reactions, as Dendro cores will explode with a delay, often after the Iniquitous Baptist's shield is up again.

If you manage to defeat the Iniquitous Baptist without breaking its shield at all, you'll get the Challenger: Series VII Achievement called "Despite the Barrier Between Us..." after the battle ends.
