Enkanomiya's confusing day-night switching mechanics can make some puzzles seem more complicated than they really are. Read on to solve the barrier puzzle in the center of the Evernight Temple.
Start by heading to the area circled in the image below during Evernight. You should see a half-destroyed building with locked gates housing a Precious Chest, as well as a barrier barring you from entry.

Approach the Mooncrux beside the triangular mechanism to obtain its energy. Then turn left, and you'll find a day-night switching mechanism. Activate it to turn Enkanomiya into Whitenight.
Once it's Whitenight, attack the triangular mechanism once to dispel the barrier. After, head to the right side of the building, where you'll find another day-night switching mechanism. Interact with it to turn Enkanomiya back into Evernight. It's very important that you activate this switching mechanism and not the one on the cliff, so you don't get locked out of the barrier again.
Head to the other side (left) of the building. On the way, approach the Suncore to obtain its blessing. Once you reach the other side, attack the triangular mechanism once to open the locked gate. Don't forget to loot your reward: a Precious Chest!
