Genshin Impact is a great game to play with friends, especially when you're grinding out boss materials. Most co-op sessions are made up of four players, but things can get a bit frustrating, as there isn't much communication. If you play online, then there are some unspoken rules that you should keep in mind.
Unspoken Rules of Genshin Impact Multiplayer
Here are some things you should keep in mind when playing multiplayer:
- Check the elements that work best in the domain before locking in your character.
- Try not to end up with a team of all DPS characters.
- Don't pick Xiao or Hu Tao unless you have an NRE prepaired or there's a healer.
- When using Anemo charaters, don't pull the enemies away from the other players.
- Zhongli does not shield the whole party unless he uses his Burst and is at C2.
- Don't use under-leveled characters or character without leveled talents.
- Don't hold up the party by fighting with another player over who gets to play a certain character.
- Rember that some characters just don't work together—don't bring Chongyun to a Geo team.

Generally, you just need to keep the boss you're fighting in mind and what your character's abilities do. Chongyun and C6 Bennett, for example, change the Elemental types of the party's attacks when they use their Burst.
In addition, if you need a shield, it's best to bring a character like Albedo, who can easily provide shields for the entire team. Keep tabs on what the other players are doing, and communicate in the chat if you have concerns about the party line-up.
