Where to find the key for the attic in Gone Home

Gone Home is a game that is a nostalgia trip. Set in the '90s, it recollects being at high school while listening to grunge music and spending time with your best friend. Except in this case, your best friend is also the person you are secretly dating. Attics are good for secrets, here's how to get up there in Gone Home.

Gaining access to the attic comes at the end of the game. You will need to have unlocked other doors beforehand, so this guide assumes that you have already unlocked Sam's locker. If you are still looking for the locker combination, then check out the related article below.

How to open the attic in Gone Home

After opening Sam's locker, you will find the key for the basement pinned up inside on the door. Take the key and go downstairs, you will find the basement door at the end of the corridor past Sam's Dad's office.

Venture down into the basement, and make your way through the lower level. There will be letters to read that add entries to Sam's journals that she's been reading aloud to you.

Once down there search through the storage room, the servant's quarters, and the junk room. When you have looked through all of the rooms, you will find an already open passage in the junk room leading back up to the ground level of the house. Head up the stairs after finding it.

You will now be able to unlock the door in the foyer from the start of the game from the other side, allowing you access back to the main part of the house. You will want to go left though rather than heading back through and continue looking through letters etc, in the dining room and kitchen.

At the very end of the house you will reach a greenhouse, which is where you will be able to find another of Sam's maps. It will reveal the opening to another secret room, and the opening will then be marked on your menu map.

Now you will want to backtrack and go through the foyer door that was previously locked. Approach the bookcase to the right, and stand to the very left of it before the staircase. You will find another secret door, open the door, and head inside to find the attic key sitting on the table.
