Can I play Gray Zone Warfare? Beta and release dates

At the time of writing, there is no official release date for Gray Zone Warfare beyond the information available on Steam which simply states that the game will enter Early Access in 2024. The first official release trailer arrived late in 2023 to whet our appetites, featuring pre-alpha gameplay footage (see below) but a release date has not been finalized.

There has also been no official date or information on beta testing. However, on the plus side, some streamers and influencers are playing now through what seems to be a very limited number of early access playtest keys. A few have been given away by streamers (such as Tomographic) but these are currently rarer than rocking horse poop. The game can however be wishlisted on Steam now.

Gray Zone Warfare gameplay revealed

We’ve managed to learn a lot more about what you can expect from the Gray Zone Warfare gameplay in recent weeks. Developer Madfinger Games released a massive official 23-minute YouTube video (see below) in March 2024 which it described as ‘raw tactical gameplay’. It shows a full four-man mission, Rat’s Nest, from two perspectives.

While Gray Zone Warfare looks to include many of the trappings we know and love from our favorite FPS games, there’s a clear focus on tactics and strategy here. There’s also an incredible atmosphere and immersion that come through thanks to the excellent sound engineering at work.
