Upon release, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - The Definitive Edition was rife with bugs and glitches, and despite a lot of patch work, there are still some that remain. One of the biggest bugs causes the game to crash when you try to load in. Here is how to fix it.
Players may notice that, after getting quite far into the game, they are no longer able to boot the game up from the Start menu. After clicking Resume, the game will attempt to load, then it will crash, bringing the player out of the application and asking if they would like to submit an error report.

To avoid the bug, do not press Resume once this starts happening. Instead, go into Game and pick your most recent auto-save file. You can also pick a manual save file if you know you saved before you last put the game down.
It's nice to think that this problem will be fixed soon. However, given that the Definitive Edition was released back in November and the problem still persists, it looks as though Rockstar/Grove Street Games have little interest in correcting it.
We even submitted multiple error reports regarding the bug, and certainly may other players have, too. Yet, this work around is still needed. It's fantastic that we get to re-visit this brilliant game again, but it's still flawed in other ways that aren't quirky or comical.
