Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - Definitive Edition emphasizes the gangster life. As a result, the player needs to recruit gang members to assist with missions and daily life.
The process of recruiting buddies is based on commands such as Up on the D-pad while targeting a gang member (PS4) or aiming at a gang member.
The recruited gang members will follow you if you press Up on the D-Pad while they're with you. The recruiting gang members will remain in their current positions until they are told otherwise by pressing down. The gang can be disbanded by holding Down for a few seconds or simply abandoning them.

Your homies will shoot at rival gang members and cops in response to an attack on you. In the same way that Sweet, Smoke, and Ryder perform drive-by shootings in the mission Drive-By, they will also participate in drive-by shootings. You shouldn't rely too heavily on your homies because they aren't very reliable. If they draw attention away from CJ, however, they are useful.
According to how many tags CJ has completed, gang members will also carry better weapons.
CJ's respect level determines the maximum number of recruits. When CJ reaches maximum respect, he can recruit a maximum of seven members. Coaches hold all seven passengers, ambulances hold six, and most cars, boats, and aircraft hold up to four people.
