With GTA 3 returning via a definitive edition remaster for current generation consoles, players new and old can enjoy this classic. With over twenty years since its original release, some may be unsure where the game takes place or might have forgotten entirely.
Grand Theft Auto 3 takes place in Liberty City. Here, players assume the role of Claude, a criminal and escaped convict trying to make a name for himself in the criminal underworld of this sprawling city. Claude's journey pits him against other criminals like Triad members while looking for the girlfriend that betrayed him and got him arrested at the beginning of the game.
GTA 3 made history for the franchise, being the first full three-dimensional entry in the series. The game was initially released in 2001 for the PlayStation 2 and later found life on PC and Xbox. Twenty years later, the game now sees new life on current consoles with remastered visuals and improved controls.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy — Definitive Edition is available now digitally on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
