We've updated TBH tier list, especially the Priest character info so it's up to date according to the current meta. We've also expanded the team compositions section with new lineups built around Priest and two ranged DPS picks.
- The best classes in TBH: Task Bar Hero are Ranger (S Tier - The best F2P DPS that can clear most waves solo) and Priest (S Tier - Best semi tank and healer, must have for late game).
Apart from that, the following meta changes have been to the tier list:
- Hunter: S Tier -> A Tier
- Knight: S Tier -> B Tier
- Slayer: A Tier -> B Tier
TBH: Task Bar Hero is a free-to-play idle battler RPG from developer Nugem Studio that runs right on your PC taskbar, giving you six hero classes and a roster of pets to combine into a team. Available on Steam, the class choices range from free all-rounders to paid DLC picks, and the right team composition makes a meaningful difference in how deep your runs go across all three acts. So, to help you pick the best characters and build the best team comp, this TBH: Task Bar Hero tier list ranks every class and pet from S Tier to B Tier.
What Do the Tier Rankings Mean in Our TBH: Task Bar Hero Class Tier List?
In TBH: Task Bar Hero, class rankings reflect how well each hero performs across different team formations, how much flexibility their build has, and whether their role as a tank, healer, or DPS can be replaced. Here are each of the tiers and what they mean:

Which Classes Are S Tier in TBH: Task Bar Hero?
| Class & Type | Why This Tier | Best For |
|---|---|---|
![]() Ranger [Free] | + Ranger's jump to S Tier reflects how well her passive-trigger kit performs in the current meta. + Her high base attack speed and Bleeding debuff stacks compound damage across extended fights without needing manual activation, making her substantially more effective than her B Tier placement suggested previously. + Ranger's Rapid Fire scales directly with attack speed, with attack speed investment amplifying her output significantly beyond what a typical ranged DPS provides. | F2P ranged builds, Bleeding, DPS |
![]() Priest [Free] | + Priest has moved into S Tier as the current meta increasingly tilts towards her healing and tanking abilities. + She is the only healer in the game, and her ability to heal allies, buff attack output, and revive downed heroes keeps teams alive through the hardest stages in ways no other class can replicate. + Priest pairs well with every composition and is now the highest-priority pickup regardless of your team setup. | Team survival, boss runs, Healing |
Which Classes Are A Tier in TBH: Task Bar Hero?
| Class & Type | Why This Tier | Best For |
|---|---|---|
![]() Hunter [DLC] | + Hunter remains a strong damage dealer with explosive and lightning AoE crossbow attacks that can shred bosses before they reach the party. + She drops from S Tier as the meta shifts toward the free Ranger's passive-scaling kit, which now competes at a similar damage level without the DLC cost. - Hunter is still the stronger pickup if you have the DLC and want maximum single-target burst, but she is no longer the mandatory top-tier DPS she once was. | Boss fights, AoE damage, DPS builds, attack-focused teams |
![]() Sorcerer [Free] | + Sorcerer, the game's default Mage class, deals ranged AoE elemental attacks, slows incoming enemies to control their movement, and can summon a Hydra minion to add extra DPS during waves. + She falls slightly behind Hunter in raw output but brings more team utility through the slow and summon mechanics. - You need to build her around ability power and pair with a tank since her health pool is low. | AoE clearing, F2P teams, ability-power builds |
Which Classes Are B Tier in TBH: Task Bar Hero?
| Class & Type | Why This Tier | Best For |
|---|---|---|
![]() Knight [Free] | + Knight drops to B Tier as the current meta relies less on dedicated frontline tanking and more on sustain from Priest and passive DPS from Ranger. - Knight's bubble shield, long-sword damage, and hybrid build flexibility are all still functional, but the team compositions that benefit most from a tank anchor have been outpaced. - Knight works fine in the right setup, but is no longer the automatic first pick he was. | All teams, Tank/All-round |
![]() Slayer [DLC] | + Slayer's berserker-style kit and HP sacrifice mechanic provide a high-risk burst that was previously compelling alongside Knight as a frontline pair. - With Knight deprioritized and Priest/Ranger now occupying the meta-defining roles, Slayer's melee damage no longer justifies its DLC cost. - Worth using if you already own the DLC, but not a purchase worth making in the current meta. | High-damage melee builds, crowd control |

What Do the Tier Rankings Mean in Our TBH: Task Bar Hero Pet Tier List?
In TBH: Task Bar Hero, pets are all active simultaneously once unlocked, so there are no roster decisions. Every pet you own contributes passive bonuses to gold farming, EXP gain, and chest drop rates at all times. So, here's what each of them means in our pet tier list.
| Tier | Meaning in TBH: Task Bar Hero | Pets |
|---|---|---|
| S | Best available. Provides multiple simultaneous bonuses that improve farming, leveling, and item drops at the same time. | 3 |
| A | Strong single bonuses that improve either gold income, EXP gain, or chest drop rates throughout progression. | 3 |
| B | Limited value. Either locked behind DLC with a weak bonus, or outclassed by a free alternative with the same or better effect. | 2 |

Which Pets Are S Tier in TBH: Task Bar Hero?
| Pet | Bonuses | Why This Tier | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
![]() Dragon | +20% Common Chest drop chance, +15% Gold per kill, +20% EXP gain | + Dragon activates three separate bonuses simultaneously, making it the only pet in the game that improves all three major farming categories at once. + Nothing else competes with this combination, and Dragon remains the top pick regardless of what stage of the game you are in. | All content, gold farming, EXP leveling, chest drops |
![]() Dark Spirit | +15% Stage Boss Chest drop chance | + Dark Spirit boosts Stage Boss Chest drops by 15%, which becomes increasingly valuable from Act 2 onward, where boss chests start rewarding significantly better gear and items than standard drops. + The later the game goes, the more each boss chest is worth, making Dark Spirit a pet that scales in value. | Boss chest farming, late-game |
![]() Bat | +10% Common Chest drop chance, +15% EXP gain | + Bat is the best free-to-play pet in the game. Its dual-ability structure outperforms most single-ability pets regardless of rarity or cost. + You can farm Act 1 specifically to unlock it early, since the EXP gain compounds across the entire run from the moment it activates. | F2P, early game, EXP farming |
Which Pets Are A Tier in TBH: Task Bar Hero?
| Pet | Bonuses | Why This Tier | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
![]() Sword | +15% EXP gain | + Sword provides a clean +15% EXP boost that accelerates character leveling consistently across every stage of the game. - It does not match Bat's dual-ability structure, but as a single-stat pet, it is somewhat useful. | EXP farming |
![]() Burning Skeleton | +10% Stage Boss Chest drop chance | + Burning Skeleton improves Stage Boss Chest drops by 10%, making it a practical alternative if Dark Spirit is unavailable. - The 5% gap between the two is noticeable over many boss runs. | Boss chest farming |
![]() Watcher | +15% Gold per kill | + Watcher provides +15% Gold per kill without requiring any real-money purchase, which already makes it a better recommendation than Butterfly. - Gold compounds quickly in TBH, but their usefulness keeps falling in the long term. | Gold farming |
Which Pets Are B Tier in TBH: Task Bar Hero?
| Pet | Bonuses | Why This Tier | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
![]() Butterfly | +10% Gold per kill | - Butterfly requires a DLC purchase and provides only a single +10% Gold per kill bonus, less than the free Watcher's +15%. - The DLC cost, combined with the weaker bonus, makes Butterfly the hardest pet to recommend in the current roster. | Gold farming |
![]() Blue Golem | +15% Common Chest drop chance | - Blue Golem provides a decent Common Chest drop rate boost on paper, but Common Chests consistently drop low-rarity fodder gear that clutters the inventory more than it advances progression. - Bat covers the same chest drop bonus at a lower activation cost while also providing EXP gain on top. | Early game, Chest farming only |
What Are the Best Team Compositions in TBH: Task Bar Hero?

The best team compositions in the current meta pair a frontline support, namely the Priest, with two ranged DPS. Keep in mind that you start with limited Hero Slots and need to unlock more before you can field a full three-hero party, so prioritize that as you progress. Since every pet you unlock stays active at all times, treat the pet picks below as the ones to prioritize farming or unlocking first, not an exclusive loadout. Here are all the best squad combinations, along with the pets you should have.
Priest + Ranger + Sorcerer (Best Overall)
The strongest team in the current meta is fully F2P. All three classes are available without DLC. Priest holds the front line by healing, buffing, and reviving to keep the team going through difficult stages. Ranger's passive Bleeding and high attack speed provide consistent DPS, and Sorcerer's AoE elemental attacks keep waves manageable.
| Slot | Hero | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Frontline/Support | ![]() Priest | Tank and team protector |
| Ranged DPS | ![]() Ranger | Burst and core DPS |
| Mage DPS | ![]() Sorcerer | AoE damage and boss killing |
Recommended Pets: Dragon (triple passive bonus), Dark Spirit (boss chest drops), Bat (EXP gain)
Knight + Sorcerer + Priest (Free-to-Play Alternative)
The top fully free composition. Knight tanks the front, Sorcerer's AoE and slow abilities keep waves manageable, and Priest sustains the team through prolonged fights. This setup does not hit the same damage ceiling as Composition 1, but it performs consistently without requiring any DLC purchase.
| Slot | Hero | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Frontline | ![]() Knight | Tank and crowd absorber |
| Mage DPS | ![]() Sorcerer | AoE clearing and enemy slow |
| Support | ![]() Priest | Healing and attack buffs |
Recommended Pets: Bat (best F2P pet), Sword (EXP stacking), Watcher (gold income)
Priest + Ranger + Hunter (Double Ranged DPS)
A viable alternative that swaps Sorcerer for Hunter to push single-target burst and boss damage higher. Priest handles sustain, and Ranger maintains steady Bleeding output, while Hunter's AoE crossbow attacks shred bosses. Worth running if you own Hunter's DLC and are pushing specific boss-heavy stages.
| Slot | Hero | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Tank/Support | ![]() Priest | Frontline anchoring, healing, attack buffs, and revive |
| Primary DPS | ![]() Ranger | Sustained Bleeding DPS and passive scaling |
| Burst DPS | ![]() Hunter | Explosive AoE and boss burst damage |
Recommended Pets: Dragon (all-around farming), Dark Spirit (boss chest drops), Bat (EXP gain)
Knight + Hunter + Sorcerer (Alternate DPS)
Double ranged DPS backed by a Knight tanking the frontline. Hunter and Sorcerer together cover explosive AoE, elemental damage, enemy slow, and boss burst simultaneously. The fastest wave-clear combination in the game.
| Slot | Hero | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Frontline | ![]() Knight | Tank and team anchor |
| Ranged DPS | ![]() Hunter | Explosive AoE and boss damage |
| Mage DPS | ![]() Sorcerer | Wave clear, slow, and Hydra summon |
Recommended Pets: Dragon (all-around farming), Burning Skeleton (boss chests), Watcher (extra gold per kill)
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Yes, if you own the DLC and want maximum single-target and boss burst. Hunter deals explosive AoE and elemental lightning damage from range, but the free Ranger now matches her as the best overall DPS in the current meta, so she is no longer a required purchase.
Yes, especially in team play. Priest is the only healer in the game, and her ability to buff ally attacks on top of healing makes the whole team noticeably harder to kill. In our top-rated Priest, Ranger, and Sorcerer composition, she is the anchor that holds the lineup together.
The two best free classes in the current meta are Priest and Ranger. Both S Tier and both are available without DLC. For the strongest fully free team, run Priest, Ranger, and Sorcerer together. If you own the Hunter DLC, she remains a strong burst option, but no longer outperforms the free Ranger as DPS.
Yes, TBH: Task Bar Hero is free to play. The Knight, Ranger, and Sorcerer are free from the start, and the Priest is a completely free DLC unlock on Steam. Only the Hunter and Slayer classes and the Supporter Pack pets cost money, with the Hunter at $4.99 and the Slayer at $3.99. You can clear most content with the free Knight, Sorcerer, Priest, and Ranger lineup.
Dragon is the best pet overall because it stacks a +20% Common Chest drop chance, +15% Gold per kill, and +20% EXP gain at the same time. Bat is the best free-to-play pet, combining a Common Chest drop bonus with EXP gain.
