Monster Hunter Rise is a series known for pitting its players against various hostile wildlife. These monsters come in all shapes and sizes. Some monsters are tiny, and others are massive, like the Mizutsune. This giant monster is at home in the water and can use this element to decimate its adversaries. Make sure you don't end up as its dinner by learning its weaknesses, resistances, and drop rates before standing face to face with this Leviathan.
All Mizutsune Weaknesses
Mizutsune Elemental Weakness
Mizutsune's main weaknesses are thunder and dragon weaponry. Make sure to use tools with these elements to deal the most damage. Fire and ice are helpful should you not have thunder or dragon options but do far less damage in comparison. Do not use water weapons on Mizutsune.
Make sure to focus your attacks on the Foreleg, Left Claw, and Right Claw when Using thunder, dragon, and ice weapons. Hitting Mizutsune here will deal the most damage. Aim for the Neck or Dorsal Fin if you have a fire weapon.

Mizutsune Location Weakness
If you are not wielding an elemental weapon, you want to attack places where you deal extra damage. These places on a monster differentiate depending on the weapon type you use—Cutting, Impact, or Shot.

- If using a cutting weapon focus on the head, fin and tail.
- If using a blunt weapon focus on the head, fin and tail.
- If using a bow/shot weapon focus on shooting the head, fin and tail.
Mizutsune Resistances and Ailments
There aren't too many ailments that are very effective on Mizutsune, so make sure to capitalize on its aversion to Blast and Thunderblight. These attack types are certain to get the beast reeling with a stream of consistent attacks. Mizutsune isn't immune to any ailment types, though other ailments won't do much.
Mizutsune Drop Rates - Carves, Capturing & Breaking
Depending on your quest, you can get different rewards to forge armor and weapons, but each has a drop rate percentage, ultimately RNG. It is pure luck what you receive.
- There are multiple ways of gaining items
- You can carving three times once the monster is dead.
- You can capture the monster instead of killing it.
- Or carving the broken appendage of said monster.
- From looting the drops from the monster
- After successfully compleing your quest
Most monsters have breakable parts, and Mizutsune is no different. The Head, Fin, Nails, and Tail can all break on this monster. If you break these pieces off during the hunt, you will earn extra rewards after completing the quest.
