Saviors of Uldum Plot Twist Quest Warlock Deck List Guide

We're taking a look at the potential of the Warlock Quest and how it might fit into a Plot Twist deck in the Saviors of Uldum expansion!
This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Our Saviors of Uldum Plot Twist Quest Warlock Deck Guide takes a look at this possible archetype in the new expansion for Hearthstone's Year of the Dragon. This quest can be hard to complete, but if you can do it somewhat early, you can start playing some powerful minions for 0-mana!

Plot Twist Warlock has been a deck that has seen some play in the Rise of Shadows expansion, but it's largely been a fringe/meme deck. However, the new Quest that Warlock got in this new expansion, Supreme Archaeology , seems to be an obvious match with it. Draw a ton of cards, replace your deck with Legendaries, and then start drawing some powerful minions that cost 0-mana!

Plot Twist Quest Warlock Mulligan Guide

Always Keep

  • Supreme Archaeology - Keep the quest and play it immediately, we'd likely never complete it if we wait to play it.
  • Questing Explorer - Good turn two play, and we also get the benefit of drawing a card towards our quest!
  • Bone Wraith - This will hopefully protect our face a bit. It's slow, but we honestly don't have a lot of stuff to keep in our hand.

Situational Keeps

  • Mortal Coil - You can hopefully remove a cheap minion and then get a draw from it towards your quest. Only keep against decks you think are running cheap minions.
  • Impbalming - Good against decks that might throw big minions on the board early in the game.

General Gameplay Tips

The Supreme Archaeology quest once completed will give you the hero power, Tome of Origination. It costs 2-mana and reads, "Draw a card. It costs (0)."

The name of the game is survival in the early game. Cards like Hellfire , Impbalming , Rotten Applebaum will help us get there.

What we're trying to do with this deck is stack up cards in our hand with our hero power and other draw cards. This will start building up the quest, then we can use Plot Twist to finish it up. After that, ideally we'll play Arch-Villain Rafaam to change all our cards to powerful Legendaries. We can then draw some of those from our new hero power and play them for 0-cost and overrun our opponent!

In an ideal world, we're either comboing Plot Twist with Dollmaster Dorian to summon some 1/1 copies of the cards we draw, or we're dropping an Augmented Elekk on the board and getting a bunch of extra cards in our deck.

Fel Lord Betrug is another worthy minion that you can pair with Plot Twist. It's pretty late game, but you run quite a few deathrattle minions so it could be worth it. Again, you'll need to be careful when you do this because you might put some minions on the board that you don't want to lose.

Dr. Morrigan is a solid card, but it could potentially burn us big time if it pulls Arch-Villain Rafaam out of the deck before we can roll Legendaries.

Be careful with The Soularium , you're running a lot of high cost cards, so you could easily end up burning some stuff that you'd rather not have. It's a better card when you're nearing the completion of the quest, and you already have your Rafaam in hand.

Other Card Choices

This is likely not an optimized list yet, so there's going to be some different ways to build it.

  • Hellfire - You already run one, but you might need more help in the early game.
  • Shadowflame - Could help you clear problematic boards.
  • Mountain Giant - You end up drawing a lot of cards and keeping many in your hand, this is a strong minion to play in those circumstances.
