Hogwarts Legacy Prepare for Your OWLs: How to unlock the next quest

If you're like some of us here at Pro Game Guides, then you might have reached a point in Hogwarts Legacy where you cannot seem to get your next main quest to start. There can be all kinds of reasons for this, but the most likely one is something you may not expect, despite the game telling you about it early on. If this is you, keep reading because, after much trial and error, we fortunately figured out how to proceed to the next quest in the Prepare for Your OWLs questline.

How to unlock the next main story quest after In the Shadows of the Mountain - Hogwarts Legacy

We're sure we're not the only ones following the thrill that is the Shadows of the Mountain quest, but what happens after it might be a problem if you weren't already reading your OWL Post letters that arrive on a daily basis. This isn't unreasonable because your main quest would normally just continue regardless if you had read any of the letters. However, for the Prepare for Your OWLs quest, you need to do just that to get the next main quest to trigger.

We wandered around the Wizarding World for hours, completing side quests and exploring the countryside in hopes that the next main quest would start upon some random completion. Alas, such did not occur. Instead, you'll need to open your Owl Post letters and look for a letter from your goblin friend, Lodgok. Turns out, Lodgok was looking for a mine and mentioned prior that he would send an owl letter upon finding one. This is that letter.

Upon opening the letter, your main quest should continue where they have left off, sending you to aid Lodgok in the destruction of Ranrok's drill. I can say, personally, that I was rather distressed when this occurred, as I thought I might have been bugged. Fortunately, as I have already completed the game, I can confirm that there are no other quests following this one that forces you to read your owl letters. Rejoice!
