What do you lose by not returning to your dropship before the mission ends in Icarus?

You don't want to be left behind.

Icarus is a multiplayer survival game in which players descend from orbit to explore an alien planet. While on the surface, players will have a designated time to complete their prospect or mission before having to return to the dropship. But players may be wondering what happens if they do not return in time.

You will lose everything if you do not return to your dropship before the mission timer ends in Icarus. This includes your character and all of their tech tree and trait unlocks. This effectively is a complete wipe for your character, and you will have to make a new one and start over.

When setting out on prospects, pay attention to the mission time. Each prospect's time will vary, so double-check this when setting out. You should also pay attention to this time while exploring the surface. Make sure you can return to your dropship in time.

If you are paying attention, you should be able to return to your dropship before the mission ends in Icarus. You really want to avoid this as it will mean restarting all of your hard work.
