How does sacrificing work in Inscryption

There is no other way.

Inscryption is a dark and twisted horror game that utilizes a mixture of deck building and puzzle-solving. The deck-building aspect makes up a large portion of the game and as such there are many components of it. One of these is sacrificing.

There are three kinds of sacrifices in Inscryption. You can sacrifice your cards during a match, at sacrificial stones, and when you encounter the Bone Lord. The latter of these methods can only be done by reaching their respective events on the game map.

Sacrificing your cards during a match is the most common form of sacrifice. This method sacrifices your cards to summon stronger cards. The number of sacrifices needed is shown by the blood on the card. More powerful cards will require more sacrifices. You can find cards that have a sigil that enables them to stay on the board after being sacrificed.

The other methods require you to find sacrificial stones or the Bone Lord. At the sacrificial stones, you can sacrifice a card to inscribe its sigil onto a new card. This is a good method to get rid of cards you don't want and empower other cards. The Bone Lord will permanently sacrifice your card and grant you a boon.
