  • Phase One
    • As soon as the battle begins, Taro will lunge at Kena from a distance. Dodge as soon as the fight starts to avoid taking damage early on.
    • Taro uses a sword for the first phase of the fight, swinging it when Kena is up close to damage her. Watch out for his wind up as he readies his arm before swiping at Kena.
    • Taro will stab the ground with his sword and send a small shockwave out, roll out of the way when this happens.
    • Occasionally, Taro will leap into the air and slam the sword down into the ground, sending a shockwave out onto the ground. Dodge or shield to mitigate damage from this attack.
    • There is a Rot bulge on Taro’s shoulder; it can be broken to inflict significant damage, but ignore it until the second phase, as you’ll want to expedite that phase.
    • The easiest way to damage Taro is by shattering the golden lantern hanging from his neck. Use the Bow ability to shatter the lantern and blind Taro. Take this opportunity to get close and deal down physical damage to Taro; use any Rot abilities here to up damage output.
    • The lantern will respawn in time, so continue striking it when it's illuminated.
    • Shoot arrows at Taro when he’s not stunned to maintain a safe distance. Continue these methods until the next phase begins.
  • Phase Two
    • Phase two begins when Taro shatters his sword. He’ll roar and immediately begin charging players in a rage. Evade his charges as they’ll do significant damage.
    • Taro will use a berserk combo that uses three to four attacks in this phase. Dodge this move and keep your distance, as getting caught in this combo is often fatal.
    • Taro will circle the stage several times during this phase, lock on to him and prepare to dodge. Taro will charge after circling and attempt to grab Kena. Keep mobile to make grabbing more difficult.
    • When he’s stopped moving, focus on the lantern to blind Taro and get a few attacks in. Try to use the Rot to latch on to the Rot bulge on Taro’s shoulder. Once it’s glowing blue, shoot it with an arrow to blow it up and inflict damage to the boss.
    • Keep targeting the boss carefully with the methods listed above to end this phase, defeating Taro and freeing his spirit.
