Tips on how to defeat Meta Knight

Even though you get to take one of a limited number of Maxim Tomatoes after each battle of the Meta Knight Cup, it's not a bad idea to have one on hand to use during battle. Pull the sword from the ground to assume the Sword Copy Ability and begin the fight. He will dodge many of your attacks, but he won't be quick enough that you can't get in some good blows of your own. Dodge and hover to steer clear of his notched blade.

Phase Two of this fight will begin fast. Meta Knight will jump high into the air and get ready to drop massive pieces of earth down on the fighting ring. Stand where there's no shadow, and you won't get hit when they fall. You can attempt to use this time to charge an attack, but when he comes down, he'll stab the ground, and four moving lights will skate around for you to avoid by hovering.

Meta Knight will also suspend himself in the air and aim a series of yellow crescent sword beams that you must keep moving to avoid. He also has blue sword beams he can shoot individually at you and blue shockwaves he'll send at you through the ground. Jump and slide to avoid these attacks, and don't let up inflicting your own!

Once you beat him, you'll get the Meta Knight Sword Blueprint and can now upgrade your Sword Ability to its third form! Meta Knight Sword is among the most enjoyable to use, so be sure to enter the Colosseum and win more Rare Stones to upgrade your abilities even further.
