How to fish in Kirby and the Forgotten Land

You need to save a lot of Waddle Dees first.

There's a bonus fishing mini-game in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. It is called Flash Fishing, and it isn't available to you at the very start. It's unlocked later in the game.

You unlock the Flash Fishing mini-game once you rescue 155 Waddle Dees. Once you've saved that many Waddle Dees, the Fishing Pond will be available in Waddle Dee Town.

You have Kirby and/or Bandana Waddle Dee sit on the chairs next to the pond and you will start fishing. Kirby will take out a fishing rod and throw a line in the water. Wait for a few seconds, and soon one of four face buttons - A, B, X, or Y - will appear on the screen. When you see one of these buttons, press it as quickly as you can. If you press it at the right moment, Kirby will reel in a fish.

You gain Star Coins for every fish you collect, and how much you gain is dependent on how large the fish you pull out. Small fishes are worth ten coins, medium fishes are worth 30 coins, and giant fishes are worth 500 coins. The longer you play Flash Fishing and continue pulling out fishes, the greater chance you have of getting larger and larger fishes. You will receive the Fishing-Pond Kirby figure for the first "Big One" fish you pull out.
