How to get and use the Zap Gun in Lethal Company

You can purchase many tools in Lethal Company with various uses. One such tool is the Zap Gun, but understanding how to use it is unclear. 

How to get the Zap Gun in Lethal Company

To get the Zap Gun in Lethal Company, you must purchase it for 400 credits. You can earn enough money to buy the Zap Gun by farming scrap totaling at least 130+ per salvage run. I also recommend trying to get items that individually sell for at least 40 per item. Here's a list of scrap items I recommend searching for and picking up:

• Bottles
• V-Type Engine
• Jar of Pickles
• Remote
• Large Axle

You can also maximize your profits by waiting until the last day (day zero) before selling your scrap. Doing so ensures that your scrap sells for its full price, but getting to this point requires more than one player. In short, you need at least one player on the ship to escape should anyone inside the Moon compound die. 

Once you have enough money to buy the Zap Gun, you can do so by visiting the Terminal inside the ship. To use the Terminal, walk up and press the E key to access it. After opening the Terminal, type Store, Zap Gun, and confirm. Typing confirm will complete the purchase of the Zap Gun, and you can get your Zap gun from the store drop pod when you visit your next Moon. Items bought from the store tend to drop after the ship lands in Lethal Company via a store drop pod. You can find the drop pod by watching for it to land and following the music that plays when it lands near the ship.

How to use the Zap Gun in Lethal Company

If you want to use the Zap Gun, first equip the gun by picking it up. Once equipped, you can use the Zap Gun to stun the closest enemy. The Zap Gun also uses a battery that is rechargeable via the ship's recharge station. When firing the Zap gun, players must control an electrical beam that becomes harder to control with larger monsters. 

Controlling the electrical beam will keep monsters stunned, but if players miss their shot, it wastes 10 percent of the Zap Gun's battery. The Zap Gun can also target fellow players, so I recommend not firing it near players. You can also control the Zap Gun by moving the mouse side to side to counter the Zap Gun's beam. Doing so keeps the Zap Gun going for a little longer but can prove tricky to control due to issues involving the Zap Gun in build v38 that keep it from functioning as intended.

Is the Zap Gun worth it in Lethal Company?

The Zap Gun on paper, is a helpful tool that can help you stay alive in a pinch by stunning enemies. However, with the game's current build v38, the Zap Gun has some issues functioning as intended. Because of this, we recommend holding off on purchasing the Zap Gun until the issues get fixed in later updates.
