As you progress through the creation of civilization on an alien planet, you can still use obsolete buildings. However, you need to know how to recycle materials in Lightyear Frontier first.
Lightyear Demolish Structures guide
You can Recycle materials from structures by accessing the Recycle function in the Build menu. When you Recycle a structure, you will get back all the resources you used for building. You can dismantle everything that you've built, including crafting devices, sheds, and even Upgrade Depots.

Open the Build menu and select the Recycling mode option to disassemble any construction back into the resources. Once you select the Recycling mode, you will notice a yellow overlay over the buildings you're pointing at. By pressing the Recycle button, the structure you have selected will disassemble into the resources it was made of. The number of resources stays the same, so if you spent five Stones and three Woods to build something, that's the amount you'll pick up after the Recycle.
When to use Recycling Mode in Lightyear Frontier
You should use the Recycling Mode on buildings that you don't use anymore, such as sheds or living quarters. The good thing is that you won't lose any resources if you recycle the buildings. Keeping the resources really fits the relaxing nature of Lightyear Frontier, and you don't have to worry about being punished for bad resource management. However, you can use the Recycle function to move structures because there is no moving option. If you want to move your crafting machines into a bigger Shed, just disassemble them and rebuild them inside.
