Lords of the Fallen 3 player co-op, explained

I need as much help as I can get.

Lords of the Fallen is hard, so I don't fault you for wanting to play co-op. When Lords of the Fallen was announced, developer Hexworks confirmed there would be co-op multiplayer, but players have found ways to get around the two-player co-op and raise it to three players. Keep reading below to learn how to play Lords of the Fallen with three-player co-op.

Does Lords of the Fallen have three-player co-op?

Lords of the Fallen does have three-player co-op multiplayer, but there is a catch. While you can only play through the seamless campaign with a single partner, making it two-player, there is a way to workaround this. You can have a third friend invade your world, but have them aid you rather than try to kill you. With this technique, you can effectively play with three-player co-op.

How to play co-op in Lords of the Fallen

Co-op is handled through summoning in Lords of the Fallen and not through an item like other souls-likes. Simply locate a vestige (the shrines where you can save your game) and interact with it. Select the option to join a player (whether a random one or a friend), or you can select Slaughter a Lampbearer to invade another player.

How many players are in Lords of the Fallen?

Technically, Lords of the Fallen can support up to three players in its co-op. Normally, it is only two, but using the method above, you can play with a third player. It won't be the same as the two-player co-op. But it does allow a third friend to join your group. Unfortunately, their experience will be limited compared to yours and your friends due to how progression and item sharing is handled.

I recommend sticking to two-player co-op unless you outright have a third friend who wants to play with you. I don't think having someone play through invading is worth the experience, but you can certainly try it. You also run the risk of your friend griefing you rather than helping.
