Lost Lands 2 Walkthrough, Part 4 - Full guide and puzzles
This walkthrough covers the concluding part of the main game in Lost Lands 2, The Four Horsemen. It begins after you’ve just met the centaurs but they’ve refused to help you until you find them a genuine dwarven shield, and it continues to the end of the main story.
If you’re looking for help with earlier parts of the game or with the bonus chapter, you’ll find all the links you need on my Lost Lands 2 Walkthrough hub page. At Pro Game Guides, you’ll also find links to walkthroughs of all the later games.
Befriending the centaurs
Head to the dwarven cemetery and use the tongs to remove the shield (a1) from the pillar and then pick up the Dwarf Shield.
Return to the centaur’s village, give the shield to the centaur Ziruk (b1), and watch the cutscene in which he tells you to find him a twig from a red tree in the Ontus Glade. Afterward, he will give you a Crystal Key. You can give him the boar skin now, as he needs that. Plus, it tidies up space in your inventory.
Go to the forest hunter territory next and use the key to open the case (c1), taking the Staff from inside. Use the staff to raise the orb on the pedestal (c2) up into the statue’s hands. This will cause a cage to lower, allowing you to take a Bird from inside.
Move to the junction and place the bird on the roots that make a face (d1), opening up a passageway that leads to the Ontus Glade. Head through.
The Ontus Glade
The Collectible is in the tree on the left (e1), and you’ll find the Beyond Object in the tree just to the right of the path (e2). Place the medallion in the stone (e3) and a rock will rise from the ground on the left of the path (e4). There’s nothing more you can do here now, so click on the path in the background to move on to the waterfall.
Grab the Collectible from the red tree (f1), the Beyond Object from the dead tree (f2), and then take a Manuscript and some Venom from next to the water (f3). In the same close-up, you need to take a leaf and use it to wrap the fish, which allows you to take the Fish into your backpack.
You need to go to Mountgore’s Temple next and use the venom on the ivy (g1) around the skeleton to remove it. This allows you to open the leather satchel and take the Pattern Fragment from inside.
Adding the pattern fragment to the altar beneath Mountgore (g2) will start a rotating disc puzzle. This one is easier than it may initially look and a lot of the solutions you’ll see online are misleading.
Make the three images around the edge first by spinning the individual images and the outside ring. Once they’re done, make the lion face in the center and you’re done. See the completed image above to know what you’re aiming for. On completion, you’ll receive the Ontus Figurine for your troubles.
The red tree twig
Go to Maaron’s cottage next and put any remaining figurines you have on the shelf (h1) on the right wall (you should have all four now). This reveals a secret compartment from which you can take a Manuscript and a Key.
Move to the dead lake in the swamp, use the key to open the compartment in the boat (i1), and take the Hook from inside. You can now return to the waterfall and use the hook to pull down the tree branch (f4). Click the rope once it is connected in the close-up to move to the Red Tree Top.
It’s amazing what you can find at the top of trees! The Collectible is on the branch to the left (j1), while the Beyond Object is in the boat (j2). Also, take the Sword Hilt (j3), use the fish on the eagle to make it leave its nest (j4) so you take the Feathers and the Saphire Symbol, and use your knife to cut and then take the Red Tree Twig (j5).
Return to the centaur’s village and give the twig to Ziruk (b1). While he’s making the bow, he tasks you with making a bowstring and some arrowheads.
Making the bowstring
Head to the waterfall and use the sword hilt on the skeleton stuck to the tree (f5) to get the Sword. Move to the Ontus Glade and place the sword in the stone (e4) to crack it open, taking the Chip from inside. Take the chip back up the tree and insert it into the device there (j6) to begin a pattern restoration puzzle. If you’re stuck on this one, use this solution (make sure the puzzle has reset before you begin by clicking out of the close-up):
- 1, 2, 1, 3, 1, 2, 3, 2
This gives you access to the treehouse above (j7), so click it for a close-up and take some Cheese. Also, look at the spyglass to realize you need a screwdriver to take the lens.
Head back to the Ottus Glade and give the cheese to the mouse on the Ottus (e5). When it comes down to the cheese to eat, take the Mouse. Go to the forest path next and use the mouse to scare away the insects on the web (k1).
Use the comb on the web to get a Comb With Thread. Return to the centaur’s village, add the comb to the weaving machine (b2), click it again to operate it, and then take the Bowstring.
Making the arrowheads
While you’re back in the centaur’s village, note that the armory door (b3) is now open. Go into the close-up and take your final Stone of Fire and the Door Knocker. You can also click the table in the close-up to see what’s required to complete this task. You can add the feathers and bowstring now to get them out of your inventory.
Move to Fire’s Dwelling and add the three stones of fire to the statue (l1). When the torch is lowered, click the wick to remove it and add the alcohol-soaked cloth to make a new wick. Take the Torch and then use it in the fire here (l2) to get a Burning Torch.
Head to the square in the Frozen Mountains next and select the dwarven statues in the background (m1) for a close-up. Add the symbol to the axes there and then take the remaining Key.
Go back to Fire’s Dwelling, use the key on the chest (l3), and take the Pickaxe. Now you can use the pickaxe on the rocks here (l4) to gain some Metal.
Go the the dwarf slums next and use the door knocker on the drum on the scaffold (n1) to open the chest there. Take the Screwdriver and open the box inside the box to find a Roller-shaped Seal.
Select the smithing area (n2) for a close-up and follow the instructions there to make the arrowheads. Put the rum into the furnace, then use the torch to light the fire. Put the metal into the stove pan, taking the Melted Metal afterward. Use the melted metal in the mold (on the left of the same close-up), and then click it to remove the arrowheads.
Use the bottle of cold water to cool them and then pick up the Unfinished Arrowheads. Use the heads on the grinder to the right in the same close-up and you’ll receive the Arrowheads.
Completing the bow
Go back to the centaur’s village and select the armory table (b3) once more. Add the arrowheads to the table and then click the feathers to add them to the arrow shafts. Use the bowstring on the bow to complete it, add sealant (already on the table) to the other end of each arrow shaft, and then add the arrowheads. Pour the living water from your inventory onto the finished arrows, and then you can take the Bow and Arrows.
You can now go back to the red tree top and use the screwdriver on the sealed panel in the treehouse (j7) to get the Lens. Move from there to the abandoned farm in the swamp and add the lens to the telescope (o1). You see, it is currently pointing towards a blank wall.
Move back to the dead lake and click the castle in the background (i2). This will make death appear in the sky here, so use the bow and arrow to fend it off. After the cutscene, talk to Folnur and then give him Mountgore’s apple to cure his wound. Click the castle once more to move forward to Death’s Castle.
Death’s castle
The final Collectible is above the castle gates (p1), which means you’ve completed the Magic Machine and now have access to 20 bonus puzzles. You’ll also find the last Beyond Object here, in the tree on the left (p2). Don’t forget to collect the Manuscript that’s just next to the gate too (p3).
Move the rocks to the left of the gate (p4) to find an Armored Glove, and then use the rolled seal on the chest (p5). Open the chest afterward, open the box inside, and the one inside that, to find a Spinning Top. Click the glowing orb (p6), use the glove on it in the close-up, and when it shatters, take the Skull Figurine from inside.
Select the mechanism on the gates (p7) and add the skull figurine to start a balancing puzzle, where each skull needs to be along the central line at the same time to complete it. If you’re stuck, reset the puzzle and follow this sequence to complete it (with the skulls being numbered 1-5 from left to right):
- 5 to the center
- 3 to the center
- 1 all the way down
- 3 to the center
- 4 to the center
- 5 to the center
- 1 all the way down
- 4 all the way up
- 2 to the center
- 5 to the center
- 3 to the center
- 1 to the center
- 3 to the center
- 5 to the center
- 3 to the center
Once complete, the barriers will be removed from the gate. Click the now-dead Death in the close-up of the area beyond the gate (p7) and use the hammer to remove its Stone Heart.
The dragon’s eye
Return to the dead lake and place the spinning top on the strange stone (i3). Click it again and it will activate the stone, raising stones from the lake and allowing you access to the dragon’s skull (i4). Select it for a close-up and use the hammer to remove the Petrified Eye from the eye socket. Place the petrified eye in the guillotine (i5) and operate it to get the Dragon Eye.
Go back to the abandoned farm and use the telescope (o1) once more. This time, when you look through, use the dragon eye to make out three symbols (I’ve pictured them above). You can now go to the Darkwoods and use these three symbols to open the scroll case (k2).
Make a note of the image that you find inside (you can find it in your diary once you’ve looked at it once).
Go to the waterfall, where you can now investigate the small tree on the right (f6). Pull it out of the ground, click the backpack underneath, click it once more to open it, and take the T-Wrench and a Wooden Disc. Use the wrench on the panel in the back of the boat at the top of the red tree (j8) to find a Brush, along with your final Manuscript. Also, click the book that’s behind the manuscript to take a Clean Sheet.
Stopping Darkness
Return to Maaron’s cottage to find him there. Give him the horseman’s heart to trigger a cutscene, after which you’ll receive the Spray and a Key. Use the spray outside on the flower in the glade (q1) to get the Flower, then give the flower to Mountgore in his temple to get the Wooden Part. Also, place the clean sheet in the pool here (g3) to turn it into a Spell Scroll.
Back in Folnur’s refuge, add the brush to the lens-polishing machine (r1) and use the key to open the door here (r2) and begin your final missing objects mini-game. Once complete, you’ll receive the Old Lens. Place the lens on the polishing machine (r1), use the machine, and take the Lens.
Return to the Ontus Glade and add the wooden disc and the missing sector to the stone table (e6) to start a puzzle. You need to move the sections to complete the pattern (this is an easy one, as the parts go green once they’re in the correct slots). Once complete, place the lens on the table and then take back the Light-Filled Lens.
Go to the tower hall and talk to Maaron, then move to the upper corridor above. Add the lens to the device there, use the scroll, and enjoy the final cutscene. Congratulations, you’ve completed Lost Lands 2!
