Marvel Rivals Announces First-Ever Marvel Zombies PvE Mode Coming October 23

Marvel Zombies are your new Rivals in this spooky PvE mode!

NetEase Games have officially announced a new Zombies PvE Mode coming to Marvel Rivals on October 23, 2025, tagging along with the Marvel Zombies mini-series which is currently on streaming services. This is the first official Marvel Rivals PvE mode announced by Danny Koo (the Executive Producer at Marvel Games) and Brad Winderbaum (Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation at Marvel Studios). This mode will have you and your team pitted against waves of the undead in a fight for survival.

Marvel Rivals Zombie Mode Gameplay - 5 Heroes vs Endless Undead Hordes

If you thought you'd get to play all of your mains in the Zombie mode, I'm sad to say but it is limited to a roster of five heroes. And, as you can probably notice below, the Team is set-up with one Vanguard, one Strategist, and three Duelists. All of these heroes will also get special abilities to improve your chances of survival.

  • Thor - Thor's persistent Awakaned state will be able to shock zombies.
  • Blade - Slice and Dice the undead with Blade's bouncing Moon Blades.
  • Magik - unlimited Darkchild form goes even more berserk for Magik in the Zombie mode.
  • Jeff - Charge through the hordes of zombies as Jeff.
  • The Punisher - Auto-operated Turret mode allowing Punisher to free roam and deal double damage.

Honestly, I am the most excited to see cutiepie Jeff take on the zombies, but all of the available Heroes will be fun to try, especially with the new abilities given to each hero. Setting up at the right spot on the map will be of key importance, as well as trying not to get surrounded. A good trailer spot for the Punisher and his turret seems to be doorways, making a fun little funnel for the zombies to be shot down. From the trailer, the Zombies mode Map in Marvel Rivals seems to be the Midtown Convoy map, but there is no confirmation if that will be the only one on the roster or not.

Epic Boss Battles Against Zombie Namor and Queen of the Dead

Apart from the regular zombie waves, of course it wouldn't be a good game mode without some zombie bosses. For this new Marvel Rivals mode, the big bad bosses will be Zombie Namor and The Queen of the Dead (Scarlet Witch) who you'll have to defeat to save the world from the zombie apocalypse.

Considering all of the heroes get additional abilities, we can also expect that these two bosses will also get some adequate boosts. Namor and Wanda are great Duelists in general, so they are definitely going to be dangerous to take on, especially if they are going to be attacking you together. I'd say to prioritize Wanda with the Punisher, Thor and Jeff, while Magik and Blade take out Namor (since he will most likely be set up further away from danger). And make sure not to forget to destroy Namor's Monstro Spawns. They are annoying in regular game, hopefully they're not much worse in Zombie Mode.

Marvel Zombies Disney+ Series Crossover Explained

If you're familiar with other Marvel content outside of the game, you'll be familiar with the Marvel Zombies. This is a fun alternate universe take both in the comics, as well as recently in the form of a mini-series streaming on Disney+ from September 24, 2025, where many of your favorite characters are turned into zombies.

The addition of Zombies to Marvel Rivals is a perfect promotional tie-in to the series. But that's not all, considering that we are well into Spooky month. This mode is also a perfect Halloween celebration, though I'm hoping for the coolest Halloween skins (don't ask me how much money I've spent on the Summer Skins, Sue will be wearing that swimsuit all Winter long).

What This Means for Marvel Rivals' Future Content

While Marvel Rivals is at its core a PvP game (and should stay that way), it is always fun to take a step back from the grueling Ranked battles and shoot some NPCs. Zombie Mode opens up the potential for future PvE modes, as well as other modes which Marvel Rivals could decide to add.
