Is Minecraft Legends free?

The cost of being a legend.

The wait for Minecraft Legends is finally over! The action-strategy game Minecraft spin-off is available on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Switch. The game has real-time strategy elements, but it still has that blocky art style we all love. With so many players eager to get their hands on it, the biggest question is, of course, is Minecraft Legends free?

Can you play Minecraft Legends for free?

Unfortunately, the simple answer is no, you cannot play Minecraft Legends for free. You may find differences in prices across platforms as time goes on, but you’ll definitely have to pay for a copy. The one exception to this is Minecraft Legends is included as part of the Xbox Game Pass. However, as players have to pay for the Game Pass as a monthly subscription, it means the game isn’t technically free.

How much does Minecraft Legends cost?

Minecraft Legends is available in two versions on release. The Standard Edition is $39.99, while the Deluxe Edition is $49.99. The deluxe edition includes the Standard Edition along with the Deluxe Skin Pack. Seeing as the Deluxe Skin Pack will be $14.99 once it is released separately after launch, it makes sense to get the Deluxe Edition now if you know you want it. But if you want to wait and see, you have that option too. The Deluxe Skin Pack includes one hero skin and four mount skins, with an additional mount skin coming later for purchasers.
