The Minecraft Hero Cape is one of the rewards you can take from Minecraft Dungeons II into regular Minecraft. How to unlock the Hero Cape in Minecraft Dungeons II
To get the Hero Cape, play the original Minecraft Dungeons, then sign in to Minecraft Dungeons II before December 31, 2026. Use the same Microsoft account for both games. Mojang says playing through Game Pass qualifies, so you do not need to purchase separate copies if you have access to the games through the service. Here are the steps:
- Launch the original Minecraft Dungeons.
- Play while signed in to your Microsoft account.
- Launch Minecraft Dungeons II and sign in with that same account before the December 31 deadline.
- Wait for the Hero Cape to become available in Minecraft Dungeons II.
That last step may take some time. The official Steam announcement says processing delays are possible, and an internet connection is required for the games to confirm that you qualify. You can also earn the reward while playing in a friend’s couch co-op session, provided you use your own Microsoft account.
The Hero Cape rewards you for playing the first Dungeons and its sequel. It is separate from the Twisted Cape pre-order bonus and the cosmetics included with the Deluxe Edition. So, if you are buying Minecraft Dungeons II mainly for the Hero Cape, you do not need either of those extras.
How to get the Hero Cape in Minecraft Java and Bedrock
Once Minecraft Dungeons II tells you that the Hero Cape is available to equip, sign into Minecraft: Java Edition or Bedrock Edition with the same Microsoft account. The cape should then unlock there as well. Mojang lists both editions as eligible, so you can use the reward beyond Dungeons II.
If the cape has not appeared in Java or Bedrock yet, first check whether you can equip it in Dungeons II. That is the point at which Mojang tells players to open the other games. Also double-check the Microsoft account on each game, especially if you normally play on different platforms or share a device. Give the account some time to process the reward before treating a missing cape as a problem.
The key date is December 31, 2026: play the original Minecraft Dungeons and log into Minecraft Dungeons II with the same Microsoft account before then. After the Hero Cape shows up in the sequel, open Java or Bedrock on that account to bring it into Minecraft.
