Mistfall Hunter Class Tier List

What kind of Hunter are you?

With five classes available for those who download the playtest, Mistfall Hunter is certainly getting some attention. If you're wondering what Mistfall Hunter class is the best one for you to take on, check out this tier list before you play.

Best Classes in Mistfall Hunter, Ranked

A word of caution for playtest players: Your progress will not be transferred over to the full game, and it's possible that the gameplay for the classes may change, depending on player feedback. Playtests are a great way for studios to figure out what is and isn't working in their game, and considering the framerate issues that Mistfall Hunter already has, a playtest with a wide audience was sorely needed.

This class tier list is based on the five classes that are available during the BETA 2 version of Mistfall Hunter.

S Tier: Sorcerer - The Best Class in Mistfall Hunter

Sorcerers reign supreme thanks to their unmatched battlefield control. Their mastery of elemental and arcane magic lets them shred monsters and rival hunters alike from safety, while also bolstering allies with powerful shields and buffs.

In Mistfall Hunter’s current playtest, nothing matches the sheer versatility of a well-built Sorcerer. Their one weakness is close-quarters combat, but with smart positioning and a full complement of long-range talents, Sorcerers remain the most consistently dominant class.

It could be argued that Shadowstrix is the best class in Mistfall Hunter, but I'll get into the reason why the Sorcerer takes that mantle at the end of the rankings.

A Tier: Shadowstrix - Fun Gameplay with a Challenge

Shadowstrix occupy the next rung of the tier list thanks to their lethal burst and stealth toolkit. Every match feels like an Assassin’s Creed mission: slipping into an enemy flank, unleashing a flurry of dagger strikes or dual-blade combos, then vanishing before retaliation.

Their poisons and curses can cripple both creatures and hunters, and a skilled Shadowstrix will often drop targets faster than any other class. They’re slightly more gear-dependent than Sorcerers, but their high skill ceiling and sheer fun factor keep them firmly in A Tier.

B Tier: Mercenary - Familiar Mechanics for All Players

Mercenaries are the rock of your squad: durable, dependable, and simple to pick up. With the ability to swap between a sword-and-shield setup and a crushing hammer, they excel at holding chokepoints and drawing enemy fire.

Their straightforward head-on combat style means they rarely outshine the flashy classes, but they also rarely disappoint. In solo runs, a Mercenary’s sustain and crowd-control talents let them clear Gyldenized hordes reliably. They fall into B Tier not for lack of power, but because their kit lacks the game-breaking highs of Sorcerers or the stealthy thrill of Shadowstrix. The Mercenary class is a great pick for new players who are familiar with games like Dark and Darker and enjoy close-quarters combat.

C Tier: Blackarrow - Needs Some Changes

Blackarrows bring essential reconnaissance and pick-off potential with their bows and traps, but in the current meta, they struggle to match the burst damage of Sorcerers or the close-range flair of Shadowstrix.

Their scouting talents and terrain-shaping arrows do offer strategic value, and a coordinated team can leverage a Blackarrow’s vision control to great effect. Alone, however, they can feel underpowered—especially when downtime between shots leaves them vulnerable. With a few buffs to their damage output or trap utility, they’d likely climb higher, but for now, they sit in C Tier.

D Tier: Seer - Intervention Needed

Seers are the game’s dedicated support class, channeling Mysti’s divine magic to heal wounds, dispel curses, and summon runic totems for area buffs. Their lore is rich—devout healers clinging to faith in a shattered world—but their kit is oddly awkward in practice.

Outside of a full three-player squad, Seers lack self-sustainability and clear speed, making solo play a slog. Their runes and auras do shine in coordinated groups, but since many Gylden Hunters prefer to tackle extractions solo or in duos, Seers rarely see the spotlight. Until their solo capabilities or tempo-control tools are revisited, they remain firmly at the bottom of the tier list.

Which is the Best Starting Class in Mistfall Hunter?

If you’re just beginning your journey through the Gyldenmist, the best starting class in Mistfall Hunter is the Sorcerer.

While many players have praised Shadowstrix as the most fun class to play, it's worth keeping in mind that close-quarters combat can feel overwhelming, especially for players who aren't already comfortable with fast-paced action RPGs. Shadowstrix demands quick reactions, precise positioning, and a good grasp of when to engage or retreat. If you panic in the thick of a fight (and who wouldn’t, with corrupted monsters bearing down on you?), things can go sideways very quickly.

By contrast, the Sorcerer keeps you safely at a distance, letting you rain destruction while staying out of harm’s way. Their spells offer excellent crowd control, huge damage potential, and defensive buffs that can keep you alive even if a fight gets messy. You’ll feel powerful early without needing to memorize intricate combos or stealth paths.
